adding on to this, 1984 also talks about how simplifying language is actually a form of oppression because they want to take away any vessel for thought-sharing among the masses… literature has always warned us about where our society is unfortunately heading…
In Fahrenheit 451, the abolition of reading began with tech companies simplifying books into summaries that you could read in five minutes. Because people no longer engaged with the texts, they forgot how to think. Then came the book-burnings.
At the press conference outside of USAID headquarters, Senator Brian Schatz:
"If you want to change an agency, introduce a bill and pass a law. You cannot wave away an agency that you don't like or that you disagree with by executive order, or by literally storming into the building and taking over the servers. That is not how the American system of government works."
Nailed it!
1. BREAKING
Several Musk associates installed at OPM — including two recent high school graduates — have received unprecedented access to federal human resources databases containing sensitive personal information for millions of federal employees.
🧵
Why hasn't ICE released any numbers on deportations?
A. Because they are not finding that many illegals.
B. The ones they are finding have jobs and no criminal records.
He lied to you again, MAGA.
The breach of data at the Office of Personnel Management by college kids with no background checks and unsecured electronic devices means that the personal identifying information of every agent who works for the FBI, CIA, or any other sensitive position is now compromised.
Authoritarianism is intimidating media, curtailing dissent & undermining our 1st Amendment.
Trump has sued ABC, CBS, Meta and the Des Moines Register for comments that offended him. His FCC is now "investigating" PBS and NPR.
Democracy is not negotiable. We WILL fight back.
The world’s richest man who no one elected just walked into the US Treasury, stole your Social Security number, and Trump let him. You deserve to know why this is happening - call your member of Congress and Senators (202) 224-3121 and ask why.
Democrats were quicker to respond to students protesting a genocide than to the richest man on earth trying to unilaterally shut down a government agency
Some people voted for trump.
Some people voted for Kamala.
Some people voted 3rd party.
But I guarantee you that NOBODY voted for a fucking billionaire to be raiding our Social Security.
What the fuck is THIS bullshit?
"World's richest man seizes control of U.S. Treasury and directs payments be made in accordance with his personal preferences" is so far beyond a constitutional crisis that I don't even know what term to use.
It’s been over 24 hours and we still don’t know why Elon Musk hijacked US payment systems, what he plans on doing with it and everyone’s personal data, and who else now has access to it.
This is a crisis that deserves non-stop attention and scrutiny.
If I am remembering correctly Musk was not elected, is not President but is making personnel decisions. He has no immunity. So, when does he get arrested for impersonating a government official and how about people who have lost their jobs due to pressure from him, suing him.
Let’s stop being scared to call this out: Since Musk is gaining access to our most vital programs and its funds, what makes you think he didn’t get access to our election systems and hacked the election for Trump? Fight me, because it happened. QUIT. BEING. NAIVE.
