And with that Flathub is now irrelevant. Many of my favorite projects use some AI in their work, and now won't be in their store.
Two big examples would be Lutris and Ghostty. However, even the Linux kernel is accepting AI contributions these days. Having an all out ban on AI is just not reasonable.
Complaining about steam when Google Play and Apple App Store are obviously have way more dominance is stupid.
Especially now that Google decided that suddenly after years of yapping about how free and open source android is they are limiting installing apps outside the Play Store.
People love showing Palestinian passports as evidence of a Palestinian state before the establishment of Israel. They never show the full cover, however. Perhaps because it says "British Passport" on the front and "Land of Israel" (א"י) on the back.
The KDE Non-binary mascot just keeps getting worse.
I just learned that “hatching” is slang, in the “Trans community”, for grooming children and convincing them to become Trans.
And an “egg” is a kid who has not yet been brainwashed into believing they are Trans.
KDE’s mascot is a child… literally hatching from an egg… to become Trans.
Grooming. This is grooming.
Back when I worked on the Office for Mac team at Microsoft... this is what Microsoft Office looked like.
And, importantly, this old version (2001) is *still* fully functional, 25 years later. Unlike Microsoft Office for Mac 2019... which is about to be disabled by Microsoft.
Some other fun facts about Office 2001:
- Is just as functional as modern versions of Office (with *more* programability features).
- Runs in roughly 10 MB of RAM.
- Fast as heck, even on 25 year old hardware.

A new report has revealed a heated debate inside Valve over pornographic games on Steam.
According to former employees, Valve’s top lawyer suggested the company take a stronger role in moderating adult content on the platform.
Gabe Newell reportedly disagreed, saying, “What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?”
The quote comes from accounts shared by former employees and has not been publicly confirmed by Valve.
If this is true, Gabe Newell is even more based.
The EU age verification app is presented as “completely anonymous”. But the risk is that member states (the countries are supposed to create their own versions of the open-source EU app) use it to introduce identity verification that makes it impossible to post anonymously on social media.
The idea behind “completely anonymous” is to use Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) cryptography to break the link between the age credential issuer (EU governments) and the regulated services/sites. Currently, the EU app does not have ZKP functionality, contrasting Ursula von der Leyen’s claim that the app ”is technically ready to be used”. But more importantly, the app is designed to always function without ZKP technology; if ZKP is unavailable, the app falls back to a non-ZKP model. Even if fully developed ZKP technology could be implemented in the future, it would remain an optional extra feature that countries may choose to disable and that the EU could remove at any time.
This means that the EU could decide at any time that ZKP may no longer be used, and in one stroke the app would fall back to its default mode, meaning that every post on social media carries an ID tag. By that point, an infrastructure will already have been rolled out; people will have gotten used to it, and it will be harder to roll it back.

After 22 years, PaintNET creator Rick Brewster has finally gained ownership of the paintnet domain name.
Since launching PaintNET in 2004, Brewster had to use getpaintnet as the official website because the matching domain was owned by someone else.
This often caused confusion among users searching for the program online.
The situation changed when the domain was allegedly used in a way that made visitors believe it was the official PaintNET website.
Brewster called it a “slam dunk case of trademark infringement,” noting that PAINTNET has been a registered trademark since 2009.
Announcing the news, Brewster said he had been trying to acquire the domain for “22 years.” The successful transfer means PaintNET can finally use the web address that matches its name.
This is ridiculous because iPhones already have parental controls that make it easy for parents to restrict access to apps and content that's classified as under 18. This has nothing to do with child safety and everything to do with surveillance and control.
