The Ocarina of Time remake isn't for you.
I remember getting into the series in 2011 when a friend lent me the 3DS remake. I was 8 years old. That opened the door to the rest of the franchise. Some of my most cherished childhood memories belong to Zelda; who I am today is largely thanks to it.
I’m going to enjoy the new remake like anyone else, but this game isn't really for me—I already had my OoT. I'm sure that's the case for most people here.
What truly excites me now is being able to share this masterpiece with the people I love and watch them create memories of their own. This remake will be an excellent entry point into the classic Zelda formula.
This game looks amazing. Stop whining. Enjoy Zelda with your loved ones and celebrate this franchise's legacy.
I still wish someone could explain this to me. Why is it that an account with 5~6k followers can get 10k likes on a post about my game - while when *I* post about it, I am lucky to get 300 likes? And I have 50k+ followers. Are all my followers dead?
This same thing happened during the entire time we were trying to drum up public support for "Alice: Asylum" - all that art, design, and other effort was essentially lost to the void.
Why it frustrates me: In terms of the sort of response a publisher would want to see as a measure of the IP's potential, there was practically nothing.
But to this day when a random X/Insta account posts up a video montage - it blows the doors off.
What gives?
PS: No shade toward those who pull these kind of numbers. More power to you. But I do wish some of that power could have been shown in response to the effort we made trying to get a 3rd game made 🤷
I always ride for Team Reptile because they are tapped into the culture in a way other things that do "street culture pastiche" aren't. I grew up with street dance so the authenticity gets bonus points from me. The director Dion Koster does some of the dance mocap himself
This life that I am living right now was only possible because I knew how to handle failure…
Success does not come from yesterday, I started on UEFN in February 2024, since then I have been grinding it like no one else has. I sacrificed everything (my university degree, my free time, hanging out….) because this is what makes me happy.
One of the things that make me a “decent”, as the very least, verse developer is that I went and try to make unique systems that challenge UEFN limits. I remember that I spent 1 month trying to figure out how to spawn 1000000 accolades devices because I knew that the XP awarded depended on the device itself, the finishers code was also challenging and my very first good code, the medallions mechanic made me realize I could do “anything”, the custom projectiles/weapons was actually really exciting to make; probably the system I love the most, the superpowers box pvp system is the one that has taught me the most; it made me master abstract classes, the Squid Nite minigame manager was insanely helpful; also a inflexion point since it made me understand how multiplayer games work at his fullest (this is actually insane and probably the thing I like about me the most because this basically means that once I detect an issue, I will know what to do to fix it)… And list goes on and on.
I do not have enough words to write here to explain all the things I have made, some of them are yet to see the light (they’re not on any public map), such as a turret/trap mechanic (like in Black Ops zombies), Pokemon catching mechanic, etc.
With this I just wanted to let you all know how my journey was… It was not easy and I went all in. This was also possible because I surrounded myself with incredible people that I will never forget and will always be grateful with… They helped me expecting nothing back from me and I will never ever forget about it. You all know who you are, if we have ever shared some words in DMs, you are one of them 100 %.
If I had to give advice to anyone, I will just say this to them:
Put your time in what you believe in.
Thank you, UEFN & Fortnite 🖤
This has just started.
