@thoughtcrmboss @ronatron3k@Yeenie_Mcbeenie There is a reason Mamdani won and is shifting the needle, with others hijacking the democratic party to adopt similar ideas
@thoughtcrmboss @ronatron3k@Yeenie_Mcbeenie Establishment democrats cannot for the life of them take really easy progressive policy wins.
- Detach themselves from Israel
- Implement actual progressive tax codes on the wealthy
- Deal with private equity housing my focusing on more government supported affordable housing

@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Elon Musk is definitionally the end result of the private sector. Your view of capitalism is in its early stages, where it actually industrializes and innovates rapidly, but it ALWAYS trends to concentrated power and government serving private interest as a natural force
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder This is specifically why you want to have a collective ownership (all people that work, by group, have stake in the company and a say) because private ownership IS AUTHORITARIAN control of production
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder It actually isn't easy to hold private citizens accountable, because they quite literally own the State, and you have no leverage against them. Once they grapple positions of power, you have no legal means against them unless you too are in their class.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder And furthermore, you see the government as a boogeyman specifically because as it is right now, it IS an immoral, elite controlled apparatus. A government controlled by YOU and the interests of people that actually work, with interests in collective good would operate differently
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder I think you have a lot of gaps in the political theory that is socialism, because it isn't "government own everything."
Socialism by definition is a collective ownership of means of production by *workers*, not government. Certain industries ARE nationalized.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder I don't want to fund these wars, and I don't want corporate buyouts. But that's because really have no say in policy or actual democratization of allocation of resources. I don't agree in principle that you absolutely no money should be paid for the maintenance of society
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Then you shouldn't be entitled to any infrastructure society offers to begin with.
I highly dislike how our money is being used by our government, I'm with you there but that's because its interests arent in the betterment of society.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Free trade is an *aspect* of capitalism, but the heart of it is actually the prioritization of profit and the organization of means of production under private ownership. What happens in late stage capitalism is the logical conclusion of the relationship between these systems.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder What results is a deterioration of these markets. Market forces NEVER correct the state of affairs for the betterment of society, but what generates maximum profit. Consequently, you know what generates profit? Seizing the state as an apparatus to create rules in benefit thereof
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Companies operating in a free, unregulated market will raise profits by any means necessary and concentrating wealth towards its shareholders. As resources become more limited and means of innovation become more costly, companies naturally turn to cost cutting and buy outs.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Your heart's in the right place but if you don't like the government right now, it's not because it's not capitalist, it's because it isn't serving your interests. A government that serves your interests I'm sure would have a far different relationship with you
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder The governmental action occurring now and around the world is a feature of capitalism because the ruling class has a grip on the government itself.
@MaloriRabbi@Hidden_Weed@scrowder Actually the embargo is entirely capitalist sourced. Government action that aligns with the ruling, capitalist elite IS in their interest to embargo and bully countries it can into to enforce its hegemony. Cuba would not bend the knee.
@DrDDSteelei@Itagen5@TambovGlasser You should get a laminectomy to get part of your spine ripped out since it's a medical procedure and therefore implies medical necessity
