In honor of Teach Ag Day, let's celebrate the amazing work of ag teachers. 👏

We recently spoke with Mrs. Proctor, an Iowa ag teacher using an FCSAmerica Working Here Fund grant to build a chicken coop.

Her students were thrilled to learn they were approved to start the coop. “We have many students interested in learning more about how to care for animals, as well as how to be more sustainable in their homes and in their futures.”

Mrs. Proctor aims to teach responsibility, communication and a strong work ethic through hands-on experiences. Overall, Mrs. Proctor hopes the students walk away with a clearer picture of agriculture and the circle of life.

Inspired by her family's dairy roots, she believes that everyone should understand agriculture. “At a young age, I saw the disconnect between rural and urban living and wanted to help make a difference and form connections between them. Agriculture is crucial for everyone, young and old. The best part is that there is always something new to learn about it!”
