@RobOHanrahan Including wastewater surveillance report up to week 22 (5th Jun).
The normalised sars-cov-2 levels are falling. There's a 1 to 2 week lag in hospitalisations, so doesn't seem cases are rising.
Could it be waning vs severe infection or variant with higher CHR?
@WimGMeijer
@andrewflood Is any of this showing up in the wastewater surveillance system?
Some good reports now on normalised sars-cov-2 levels @WimGMeijer@Mark_Coughlan
To mitigate risk, it's important for my family to know as elderly parent about to be discharged and receiving joint family care.
Can anyone explain?
1. The rise in Ireland's case rate fatality.
2. Why are we now a mirror copy of the UK, same peaks and troughs.
We made a big deal of falling CFRs why are we now ignoring as they rise?
@CcoHse
Weekly hospitalisations in 75-84 y/o, highest ever in entire pandemic, peaked 29th March 2022. It was a local peak for other groups, especially high in the 55+ and 0-4's.
Good to know if:
Due to covid or
"with" covid + other respiratory illness, both via lifting mask mandates?
@andrewflood I wonder what's happening with large recent increases in case fatality rate in Ireland & UK - OWID.
Could this be BA4, BA5 - with 7 fold drop in neutralising antibodies vs BA1?
Not really keeping up with recent developments, could be other explanations, interested in views.
Latest National SARS-CoV-2 Wastewater Surveillance Programme Report published. Population-normalised viral loads were still high in week 14, 2022, relative to previous weeks.

@andrewflood There's been a lot of improvements to the wastewater surveillance report. @WimGMeijer@Mark_Coughlan
Unfortunately, to me, it looks like levels of sars-cov-2 are higher than ever up to week 14.
Wonder why levels aren't falling more given the huge # of prior ยค infections?
Nice work on the recent changes to the wastewater surveillance report, especially the population normalised sars-cov-2 viral load.
It looks like the viral load is not dropping up to w14, is that correct?

One consequence of sky high covid? My cev elderly mum now has it & is q sick. No answer at 111, 119, no weekend GP & so she's missed antiviral window.
My dad has carer 2x daily & both have medical appts. She also does supermarket (masked). How can they or other cev stay safe?
@statsepi Wastewater surveillance, bugbear of mine, used to be published weekly, now only w10, w5 & wk 49 last year.
Data not available 3 of our most dangerous weeks & overall not granular, img 1.
Img 2, levels lower than pre Nov, clearly not true.
3/Hugh variation in other regions.
@statsepi What about surveillance?
We need an ONS style sampling system to calculate sars-cov-2 infection prevalence.
We also need to do some work on our wastewater surveillance to make it timely & fit for purpose; hasn't that already been funded, maybe privatise, seriously lacking?
