A meeting took place between H.E. Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, the representative of the National Unity Government (NUG) of Myanmar, and H.E. Robert A. Wood, the Representative of the United States of America (USA) for Special Political Affairs at the United Nations (UN). It is crucial for representatives of free and democratic nations around the world to uphold and promote democratic values and principles by fully engaging with Myanmar's sole legitimate democratic representatives, the NUG.
During the meeting, the representatives of Myanmar and the USA discussed the necessary next steps to be taken within the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding Resolution No. 2669 (2022) on Myanmar. This historic resolution, adopted for the first time in 75 years, emphasizes the importance of ceasing violence in Myanmar and the immediate release of all political prisoners, including President U Win Myint and Myanmar's State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The US Special Envoy and Myanmar's Union Minister also deliberated on the measures required to address the crimes and atrocities committed by the brutal military junta, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution No. 2669 (2022). The discussion highlighted the necessity for the Security Council to adopt stronger and more effective measures to hold the military junta accountable for its actions.
It is of utmost importance for the UN Security Council to adopt a follow-up resolution to Resolution 2669 (2022) on Myanmar, specifically addressing the military junta's persistent non-compliance with Chapter VII measures. This step is vital in addressing the junta's failure to adhere to the Security Council's resolutions and decisions, which aim to address the human rights crisis and restore peace and democracy in Myanmar, ultimately stabilizing not only Myanmar but also the entire region.

Another aerial massacre by the #MyanmarJunta in Sagaing kills at least 50 people including children. When will the UN take steps to enforce the #ResponsibilityToProtect? Will the @UNinMyanmar@antonioguterres even speak out or will they see this as a threat to their neutrality?
Heartbroken by the latest aerial massacre in Sagaing. The Myanmar junta continues to commit brutal atrocities, killing at least 50, including children. I implore the UN: how many more massacres must occur before you take action? How much longer will our people suffer under this?
