The emphasis, for him, is on the word "you."
'YOU can't have guns. We can have guns, walk in with guns, do what we want with guns. Our problem is YOU having rights.'
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."
Wow, here's what a 60-year-old couple in Bakersfield, CA making $85k/year face in health care premium shock if Congress doesn't act on ACA premiums.
$239/month to $1,825/month for basic plans.
Same couple in Saco, ME will see a similar spike in health insurance premiums, from $276 to $2,118 per month.
That's $1,610 per month in lost ACA premiums, which means paying $19,320 more in 2026 thanks to MAGA Republicans refusing to act.
A 60-year-old couple in Bangor, ME making $85,000 a year will see premiums skyrocket from $255/month this year to $2,354/month next year, thanks to the GOP and Susan Collins letting ACA tax credits expire.
A couple making $85k in Poughkeepsie, NY are looking at paying almost 5 times as much next year as this year in health insurance premiums. First is what plans cost in '25, second is them spiking in '26.
Is this what the MAGA "concepts of a plan" looks like?
"Do I like this bill? No."
"Does it take care of Alaskans? If you squint your eyes."
"Does this hurt Americans? I don't like it, but yes."
"Did we need to pass it today? No."
"Am I afraid? Yes."
"Am I still caucusing with a cult pretending to be a political party? Yup."
NEW: Sen. Lisa Murkowski stares me down for more than 10 secs after I ask her to respond to Sen. Rand Paul’s critique of the deal she struck to get her to a YES and pass the OBBB.
“Do I like this bill? No. But I tried to take care of Alaska’s interests.”

MURKOWSKI tells reporters she wants the House to send OBBB back to the Senate to continue the work. She voted for it.
"My hope is that the House is gonna look at this and recognize that we're not there yet," Murkowski said
When coal barons run the government:
"If it's like any business deal that I've ever seen, the parties walk away after they get something done, and they're probably holding their nose a little bit, and they're probably regretting certain things. That's when you got a good deal.”
Jim Justice on OBBB negotiations:
“If it's like any business deal that I've ever seen, the parties walk away after they get something done, and they're probably holding their nose a little bit, and they're probably regretting certain things.. that's when you got a good deal.”
unless you're a major law firm, or a university, or a news network that edits their televised interviews, or if you are a corporation inclined to have internal diversity initiatives, or...
I thought the Deep State feds were so powerful and rich and coddled and wasteful that they got whatever they wanted on taxpayer dime?
In reality, public servants across gov't are so underfunded they have to buy their own water.
Trump official Ed Martin says DOJ will pursue people even if they can't be charged: "If they can’t be charged, we will name them. And we will name them, and in a culture that respects shame, they should be people that are ashamed." @GlennThrush@alanfeuer https://t.co/yfQsYXg1Jn
"Have you read the bill? Have you read the reconciliation bill? Have you read the manager's amendment? Hell no you haven't!" -- John Boehner, 2010 https://t.co/zA8nWXeo6q
Indeed, he keeps saying this! Medicaid covers (certainly not all) medical costs. It's not welfare, it's not monthly checks, it's not a way for a person to scam their way into getting benefit streams from two states to profit.
Secy Kennedy keeps talking about people "collecting" Medicaid, like it's something they can spend. It's just health insurance. the only ones who get money are those who provide the medical care.
Trump in PA, 10/29/24: "I will also restore the SALT tax deduction. I don't know if you know what that means, but just trust me, it's a good thing."
In PA, 9/23/24: "Do you know what that is, SALT deduction? You will."
In NY, 9/18/24 to GOP Reps: "Remember, fellas, SALT."
Senior White House official pushing three of the points Trump made to House Republicans this morning —
1. Don’t let SALT impede this bill. Republicans can fight for SALT later on.
2. Don’t touch Medicaid except for eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, including booting off illegal immigrants and common sense work requirements.
3. Stick together and get the bill done to deliver for the American people.
“The President also made it clear he’s losing patience with all holdout factions of the House Republican Conference, including the SALT Caucus and the House Freedom Caucus. The President is clear: he wants EVERY Republican to vote yes.”
See, most Americans just thoughtlessly order food anywhere, at any time, to the people around them and it just appears on their table, magically cleared away after you're done eating.
Very stable geniuses do their research on how these "groceries" actually get to the table!
Trump to UAE president: "We have a term 'groceries.' It's an old term but it means basically what you're buying, food, it's a pretty accurate term but it's an old fashioned sound but groceries are down."
