@GShaneMorris I mean the logical conclusion of this analogy is that we'll use powerful tools for the actual real-world relevant mental work, but develop bespoke pathways to do mental training for aesthetic and health reasons disconnected from practical benefits.
@xwanyex I mean your probably right about the direction of the effect, but it matters a lot how large that effect is. Relative to proximity to jobs and amenities, the effect size of nice neighbor is likely small.
@xwanyex You're confusing property taxes with land taxes. Under a Georgist system the value of the property (which you built and maintained wouldn't be taxed). You would pay the same land taxes as the guy who just bought an empty field next to you who did nothing with it. That's the point
@ReubenR80027912 I've been an SAT tutor for ~10 years and I'd say that for a news article level literacy basis for verbal 500ish = topic + some ideas, 600ish reliably main point but hit or miss on details of argument and only 700+ is strongly literate (so 50% -> 20% -> 3% rough breakdown).
@dwzhu128 Hey I'm a high school physics and math teacher and I often run into a similar related problem trying to get / generate images and diagrams for student notes and presentations, it would be really awesome if this work flow could be extended to my use case.
@Ed_Realist@2025Blog@charlesmurray New Digital SAT actually has brought back the Pre-2015 obscure vocabulary questions, though they are still asked in a contextual form (and some words in context questions remain).
Controlling the papacy is a pretty big deal.
Here are the bonuses:
(That -20% aggressive expansion impact will be really helpful when we seize Greenland)
@patio11 Been teaching this year in a title 1 middle school, and all this is down stream of the fact that all these systems are designed to handle the 20th percentile student. Students who are actually capable of the academic work we're training students to imitate are an OCP
@Scholars_Stage@christopherrufo I agree with you, but if we're wrong it seems like it will be because political capital/ popularity grows with the successful doing (very much in question)
@abarefootmomma I mean technically it is normal to not swear around babies. No one will think you're weird if you aren't cussing. You mean reimpose a taboo. That's going to be hard, since you're junking the expectation of free expression. Neither aesthetic nor moral reasons are going to work IMO
