The Brandeis Center, a legal watchdog group, is calling on the Department of Justice to investigate Georgetown University for violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act after the Free Beacon reported on a contract requiring Georgetown to consult with a Qatari government group when planning events on “Islamophobia.”

The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law is proud to join a coalition of 26 major organizations in the submission of a joint letter to Congressional leadership, including Speaker @MikeJohnson, House Minority Leader @RepJeffries, Senate Majority Leader @LeaderJohnThune, and Senate Minority Leader @SenSchumer, urging them to adopt the DETERRENT Act (H.R. 1048 and S.1296) during this 119th Congress.

The DETERRENT Act, which passed the House with bipartisan support (241–169) in March 2025 and is now under consideration in the Senate, strengthens Section 117 reporting requirements for foreign donations and contracts to institutions of higher education. The legislation is designed to close longstanding gaps in oversight and ensure that foreign influence in American academia is fully disclosed and subject to accountability.

As a Jewish American sitting in the audience during that hearing, I felt deeply uncomfortable and genuinely offended by Commissioner Boller’s comments and line of questioning. To sit at a hearing on anti-Semitism and feel as though I was witnessing anti-Semitism was deeply troubling. I left feeling defeated and pessimistic about our future as Jewish Americans.

Removing Boller from the Commission has restored my hope and faith in our great nation and sent a clear message that distorting or minimizing anti-Semitism will not be tolerated!

Carrie Prejean Boller has been removed from President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission. No member of the Commission has the right to hijack a hearing for their own personal and political agenda on any issue. This is clearly, without question, what happened Monday in our hearing on antisemitism in America. This was my decision.

The Commission has done outstanding work through five hearings. Two more are scheduled. The testimony has been both illuminating and heartbreaking. Under the Biden Administration, Americans of all faiths had their religious liberty not only stolen from them but were often punished for standing up for their faith, in education, the military, the private sector, and even the ministry.

This spring, the Commission will deliver one of the most important reports in American history directly to the President.

The President respects all faiths. He believes that all Americans have a right to receive the great inheritance given to them by our founding fathers in the First Amendment.

I am grateful to President Trump for having the vision and boldness to create this Commission. Fighting for the Word of God and religious freedom is what this nation was founded upon. Leading this fight will be one of his greatest legacies.

In 2008, as Deputy Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, I traveled to Australia amid rising antisemitic incidents and a troubling lack of response from law enforcement and government leaders.

Australia is home to the largest population of Holocaust survivors outside Israel.

The Bondi attack is not isolated. It reflects years of inaction and minimization. Antisemitism doesn’t fade when ignored, it grows more violent.

Zero tolerance is the only answer. It starts with Jews—but it never ends with Jews. #AustralianJews #bondibeach
