In 2015 he gave his son Gautam his entire 37 percent stake in Raymond. Worth Rs 1,000 crore.

His son then denied him the apartment promised in their agreement.

Stripped him of his Chairman Emeritus title.

Removed him from office.

His belongings including his Padma Bhushan went missing.

He spent his final years in a rented apartment in Mumbai.

He died yesterday at 87.

His son’s tribute on X was two words..”Om Shanti”
