Finally on the arxiv, our most recent work with Chan U, @GanjamSuhas, and @JTeohQuantum: https://t.co/gse5jKVInW! We demonstrate a new design for a bosonic superconducting quantum memory: the suspended coaxial resonator.
Our paper that tells you how to make millisecond transmons just appeared. Congrats, Matthew, Faranak and team! In collaboration with Nathalie de Leon and Bob Cava, and building on five years of work in @C2QAdvantage

.@Yale_QI and @BrookhavenLab researchers built a compact device that stored #quantum information for more than one millisecond!
The design of this device was informed by their new systematic approach to understanding how energy is lost from #qubits.

I am excited to share that I will be joining the ECE Department at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) as an Assistant Professor.
I am actively recruiting motivated students to join my research group starting in Spring 2025.
In the protected qubits world, the long-awaited protomon demonstration is finally available: https://t.co/Om1nq427R5 by @iamshashwatk, @XinyuanYou_Q & Xanthe et al. Neat experiment with many subtleties; raises interesting questions about loss modelling in superconducting qubits.
Today, we published our work on the pure kinetic inductance coupling between generalized flux qubits and their readout modes (https://t.co/wDyGSaj8gY). This type of coupling offers an additional tuning knob independent of the capacitance matrix!

Since the field is concentrated in the centre conductor, we are less sensitive to the package quality. We achieve millisecond coherences, on par with stub cavities, in devices where the package is made of 6061 aluminium alloy. The different parts can be replaced separately.
