@mttkgrdnr @Barclaycard It's not just you Matt βΒ I've had exactly the same experience. Why they can't just activate via text or the app baffles me. Signed up for the points, but with customer experience like this I doubt I'll be staying.
@Barclaycard But finishing Apple Pay setup requires phoning Barclaycard, going though a hellish IVR system, then queueing for more than 40 minutes to speak to a human. Why couldn't this card verification be done via text or the app like every other card provider?

Today I got a call from my energy supplier @SoEnergyUK β who know my address β asking if I'd like to book a smart meter installation.
"Yes please", I said.
"Unfortunately we don't have any appointments, we'll call you back when we do", they replied.
Reminder: they called me.
