One thing I find hard to understand is why Sanju Samson is even in the conversation for T20I captaincy. Yes, he played some brilliant innings in the T20 World Cup and has proven himself as a match-winner with the bat. But captaincy is a different story. He is not an active captain in the IPL, he gave up captaincy at Rajasthan Royals, and RR didn’t achieve anything extraordinary under him.
So what exactly are his credentials to be seen as the next T20I captain? It’s beyond me.We should first see him become a consistent performer in T20Is rather than giving him more leadership responsibilities. Realistically, he was very inconsistent before the T20 World Cup and there were even talks of dropping him. Then he produced some magical knocks in the big tournament.
The hope now should be that he maintains that form and becomes a permanent fixture in the team not that he jumps straight into the captaincy race.
North Lobby and PR at its peak. We can say it is conspiracy and all. They can't make a guy from South Captain. Even if they do, he will get sacked soon. Dravid, Kumble all examples of that.
With Surya gone, the T20 captaincy will be strictly between Shreyas, Ishan and Tilak Verma - technically Axar on virtue of being VC will also be on the table.
India T20I captaincy:
* Axe on Suryakumar Yadav is more 'when' than 'why'
* Spotlight on Gambhir & Agarkar
* Two strong voices need to align on successor
* Selectors planned on Shreyas, worried about Sanju consistency
* GG & AA not GG vs AA will help 🇮🇳

🚨JUST IN: Marseille are currently pushing for the highest possible fee for Mason Greenwood. AS Roma and their manager Gian Gasperini are huge admirers of the player and are prepared to start negotiations at £43M+.
United could benefit significantly from this sale as they previously negotiated a sell-on clause of around 40%-50%.
[@FabrizioRomano] #mufc
#mufc are keeping a close eye on Morgan Rogers. Both Michael Carrick and Jason Wilcox have a strong relationship with the player. It remains to be seen whether United have the resources to pursue a deal, given their other transfer priorities [@TheAthleticFC]
Decent start to the window for Man United. Hojlund’s permanent move to Napoli covers the initial payment to Atalanta for Ederson. Well-negotiated outgoings will make the budget much more flexible.
Ederson is a duel Monster. Needed in the squad. So the next 2 has to be Passing monsters. One has to be not bad in dueling also. Matheus fits the bill. Third one has to be Anderson. Not sure who else we can go for. #MUFC
🚨 Manchester United reach agreement with Atalanta to sign Ederson. Price for 26yo midfielder €40.5m fixed + €4.5m of potential bonuses. Personal terms in place on 4+1yr deal. Must still do medical & all parties plan to complete early July @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/OgkmPEYVg7
@CrystalSeth8 Ya quiet agree. I have watched Atlanta during their Europa league winning season. Was quiet impressed with Ederson. Last season I have only watched PL. But hearing he was fine with bit drop off due to system change.
I went through 3 very detailed pieces on Ederson by @htomufc, @Silvakn0ws, and u/gultaam1007 on reddit, here's a quick summary:
Some things all three agree on:
🟢 Physicality and Work-Rate - robust, high-intensity "engine" who never stops running. Physically strong and can easily ride contact against physical opponents.
🟠 Safe, Uninventive Passing - he's a safety-first passer. Good at circulating possession but doesn't have the x-factor to consistently break lines (not close to Casemiro)
🔴Struggles Under High Pressure: Not press resistant. He can have loose touches and sometimes lose the ball due to a lack of scanning.
🟢 Exceptional Availability and Durability: He's ever-present. Only missed 10 games through injuries.
Some other stuff:
🟠 Aerial ability: He's decent. Not as good as Casemiro. Can do a job, but we have to see how the ability translates into PL.
🟠Ball Carrying: Some numbers could look good, but are a little deceptive. He isn't really a great progressive carrier. Just decent at it. He's actually better at making runs into the final third than running with the ball.
🟢 Good anticipation and reading of the game: He reads the game very well and can "sniff and snuff out threat" seconds before it develops.
🟢 Shooting and late box runs: His shooting is good, and he could benefit from shooting more (a bit like Tonali in that regard). His USP is his making late, crashing runs into the box to score, particularly headers (he could be like Mctominay in that regard).
@HenrikHaugen Am stumped at that. Anderson is the perfect Mainoo Partner. So I will try everything to land him. If that doesn't happen Touchemeni is not a bad shout if available (progressive passing is a ?). I would love Locatelli but no links and again not PL proven. So Anderson.
@2Bengu2255 Depends. We are just looking at the overall figure. What needs to be looked at is the structure of payment. United main problem is liquidity. So if they have structured to have less upfront payment for more fee. Then that's good for United and good for selling club also.
Can't believe Ederson's not going to the World Cup. Must be an awful signing.
Can't believe Matheus Fernandes is not going to the World Cup. Must be an awful signing.
Can't believe Lewis Hall's not going to the World Cup. Must be an awful signing.
@HenrikHaugen Alex Scott is good at Dueling and is good when he doesn't progressive passing but volume of doing that is less. Tonali is a big no after Ederson. Bcoz we have literally got the cheap Tonali in Ederson.
