After Niels Henrik David Bohr won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, Carlsberg, a Danish beer company, gave Bohr a house next to one of its breweries. The house had a pipe connected to the brewery, allowing him to get fresh beer for free whenever he wanted.
Bohr is best known for his atomic model, which proposed that electrons could occupy only certain energy levels around the nucleus. An electron could move from one energy level to another by absorbing or releasing energy as a photon.
However, Bohr’s model had limitations. It did not fully explain why atoms are stable or why electrons do not lose energy and fall into the nucleus.
