Long before he assumed office, his journey was deeply rooted in student movements and youth engagement. That experience gave him an enduring understanding of the aspirations, challenges and ambitions of young Indians. Throughout his public life, he remained steadfast in his belief that education is the most powerful instrument for social transformation and national progress.

Leading the Ministry of Education is among the most demanding responsibilities in government. It requires balancing the interests of millions of students, teachers, parents and institutions while preparing the country for the future. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan approached this responsibility with conviction, dedication and a long-term vision. His tenure was marked by a continuous effort to strengthen India’s education ecosystem, encourage meaningful reforms, and ensure that education remains central to India’s developmental journey.

No education system serving millions can ever be free from challenges. Every generation must strive to improve institutions, strengthen accountability and ensure that those who undermine the system are brought to justice. At the same time, it is equally important to recognise the sincere efforts of those who dedicate themselves to building stronger institutions and creating better opportunities for future generations.

Public office is temporary, but the values, ideas and institutions nurtured during that tenure endure. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan’s contribution to education and his lifelong association with student movements will remain an important part of his public legacy.

JUST IN | Authorities have imposed an internet shutdown at the Jantar Mantar protest site, extending to Sansad Marg where protestors have gathered and parts of central Delhi.

On July 22, 2026, the internet was shut down briefly after clashes between police and protestors were reported at Sansad Marg. Protestors are also complaining of facing network issues when entering the sites where the protest is on.

There are those who studied the constitution for their degree; swore by the constitution for their position; decode the constitution daily for their work. And then there are the young protestors in Delhi, who imbibed the letter and spirit of Babasaheb's constitution and practised their rights and freedoms. Court also notes potassium level is on dangerously low level and thatIV fluids not given to Wangchuk since he did not give consent.

Court: Since govt has taken decision to shift him to hospital on account of his medical condition, this court does not find same to be arbitrary action. Since doctors at safdarjung are closely monitoring his health and have only given oral things as per his consent, it cant be said any force and be used against him. This court takes note of senior counsel submission that Wangchuk is not in detention. However considering fact that he in his own violation did not check himself to any hospital, the govt was wihin its right to take such action.
