On the 5th of March 2026, I had the honor of leading the Executive Council of NIDSUG Uniuyo on a courtesy visit to the NDDC State Director, Engr. Evong Moduck Evong, at the Akwa Ibom State
Sen. Comr. Christian Edidiong Bassey
President NIDSUG Uniuyo
@zoomafrika1 In some cases mysterious natural disasters happen like earthquake, wildfire, storm and flooding. These plague causes them lot lifes, destabilise their economies and many. And you would care to ask why these things don't happen in Africa
I am deeply grateful to the NDDC State Director and officials for their time, advice and encouragement, and to my Vice President, and every member of NIDSUG Uniuyo Executive Council who stood by me. This meeting wasn’t just successful it was a step forward in our journey
As student leaders, we owe our people effective representation, advocacy, and partnerships that bring real support. This visit was a reflection of the Pace Setter Administration’s commitment to building bridges between NIDSUG and NDDC for the welfare and educational development
Handing over our proposal for the maiden program in May was another highlight. It was more than a document it was our vision for academic excellence, and I was glad to invite the commission to be part of it.
And when Dr. Eno, Director of Education Health and Social Services (EHSS), spoke to us like a mother, urging patience, learning, and self-growth, it felt like a reminder that leadership is not just about service but also about personal transformation.
His acknowledgment of the oversight at the medical hostel, and his promise of quick intervention, gave me hope that our voices truly matter.
I was proud of our Vice President, Comr. Regina Antai, who raised concerns about students living with disability. The director listened.
The director emphasized NDDC has moved from transactions to transformation. His acknowledgment of the oversight at the medical hostel, and his promise of quick intervention, gave me hope that our voices truly matter.
The director’s words struck me deeply. Engr. Evong encouraged us to focus on self-development and avoid distractions, reminding us that NDDC is committed to supporting students without discrimination. Noting that NIDSUG founded in Port Harcourt is widely recognised.
Most especially, the provision of solar street lights that have brightened our campus, while also drawing attention to the medical hostel along Abak Road that was left out. I felt it was important to highlight the real challenges our students face bursaries, academic materials.
For me, this wasn’t just another official outing it was a moment to stand before the commission and speak on behalf of every Niger Delta student in Uniuyo. I xpressed our gratitude for the pivotal roles the NDDC has played in advancing development across the Niger Delta region
