Prioritize harvest for #corn fields with 10% or more rotted stalks.

If the stalk base is easily crushed when pinched or if plants easily break when pushed, stalk rot may be an issue.

Silver leaf syndrome showing up in corn in West Lafayette, IN. Symptoms typically observed in leaves facing the sky and in dry/low humidity conditions where rapid heat loss may have occurred. Crop effects are negligible and no yield loss should be observed.

Here’s what the GDU forecast tells me about planting this week…

April 17th planting will emerge May 6-7 and takes on significant weather risk this week.

Planting April 24th will emerge May 8-9 and avoid all the weather this week.

IMO, I’d wait… #Plant23
