The conspiracy theories around 15-minute cities are insane but seriously believed. I think cities should just stop using the term. It doesn't help and has too much baggage.
Focus language on improving neighbourhood walking/cycling connections and reducing zoning restrictions.
@OhUrbanity I fully agree. Not only has the term got a lot of negative baggage it isn't descriptive or nuanced to reality. I think this lack of nuance contributed a great deal to it becoming associated with conspiracy theories.

NEW - BC is functionally re-criminalizing drug possession and drug use in all public spaces. Police can resume seizure/arrests.
Decriminalization will remain only in private residences, shelters, overdose prevention sites, and healthcare sites with outpatient addictions services.
BC police chief testimony to federal MPs puts into focus how BC NDP government didn't adequately prepare for decrminalization and didn't heed warnings that police would end up powerless to respond to open drug use.

Of all the capital infrastructure projects #Saanich is undertaking, this has to be my favourite. It’s going to shorten my #cycling commute to work, and I’ll be able to enjoy all the perks the Gorge Waterway has to offer!! @ColinPlant2022 #activetransportation
Open letter to former BC gov't minister Selina Robinson from IJV-Vancouver in response to claims made in her public letter announcing her resignation from the @bcndp caucus

Absolutely devastating week for traffic fatalities in Victoria and South Island. This has got to end. I can't imagine the pain these families are experiencing this weekend. Please slow down and drive carefully.. #yyj ❤️
@LeoSpalteholz This is very Quebec. So they are getting cash directly from Ottawa to build housing whereas the rest of Canada is sprinkling money around the municipalities to help clean up regulations? +$30k/unit seems like a lot to spend on regulation and zoning reform?
Great news! The new platform from the original creator of Twitter - blue sky - is now open. Run, don’t walk, over there for an active & thriving science community with the kind of discussions that used to occur here back in the day. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Here’s me ⬇️
The decision to remove former MP Selina Robinson from office is a crucial win for organizers including IJV-Vancouver and our allies, who stood firm and united against anti-Palestinian racism.
The rhetoric we all heard was shameful. Thank you to all who helped hold BC accountable
@katiederosayyj Did I hear @Dave_Eby say she was welcome to run as an NDP candidate in the fall election at pretty much the same time Selina said she won't run again?
As a Jewish NDPer, I'm grateful for @MatthewGreenNDP's moral clarity, courage, and leadership on this.
Anti-Palestinian racism is rife in Canadian politics, and it needs to be called out.
Full stop.
@mattdellok I'll put a vote in for Kings between Quadra and Wark. Even just a reduction to 1 car lane and no parking would make so much more space for people 😊
1870 new homes, including 215 below-market affordable homes. Amenities including local shopping/public market, great public places, daycare and contributions to Vic West parks, all a quick walk to downtown that needs lots of support. Written comments to [email protected]
