The MMDR Amendment Bill, 2026 is built around a clear principle: States will continue to receive 90 paise of every rupee generated from mineral production.

The record of the past decade bears this out. Revenue accruing to States from mineral production has increased by 354% between 2014 and 2026. More than ₹7 lakh crore has accrued to States from the mining sector, including coal. In 2025–26 alone, States earned ₹1,14,549 crore from minerals - the highest ever recorded. The States’ share in total mineral revenue has risen by around 28 percentage points over the past ten years. From receiving about 65 paise of every mining rupee more than a decade ago, States now retain approximately 90 paise of every rupee generated from mineral production within their territory.

This growth reflects a deliberate policy focus on revenue maximisation, transparent auctions, higher production and an expanding base of operating mines.

The MMDR Amendment Bill, 2026 seeks to sustain and strengthen this trajectory. It replaces a fragmented and unpredictable levy structure, including levies applied retrospectively, with a single, stable and forward-looking framework. Royalty continues. Auction premium continues. District Mineral Foundation contributions continue. The States’ GST share continues. Every existing stream of State revenue is preserved.

Minor minerals remain completely outside the scope of this Amendment. Sand, gravel, clay, silica, granite, marble, gypsum, laterite and other minor minerals will continue to be governed by existing State rules and State-determined rates. As these minerals are closely linked to State administration and district-level economies, the Bill does not alter their existing framework. The proposed framework applies only to major minerals.

A predictable regulatory framework, therefore, provides States with a stable mechanism to convert their geological endowment into a sustained and growing stream of revenue.

बीसीसीएल में हर वर्ष 05 जून को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्यावरण दिवस व्यापक स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। इस दौरान कंपनी के पर्यावरण विभाग द्वारा पर्यावरण जागरूकता से संबंधित विभिन्न गतिविधियों के दूसरे दिन कक्षा 8 तक के विद्यार्थियों के लिए निबन्ध प्रतियोगिता, प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता, चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता तथा प��धों को पहचानने की वृक्ष-मित्र प्रतियोगिता आयोजित की गई। इसमें 90 से ज्यादा विद्यार्थियों ने हिस्सा लिया।

इसके पश्चात् कार्मिकों की पत्नियों के लिए पर्यावरण जागरूकता से संबंधित विषय टी शर्ट चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यक्रम में मुख्यालय के विभिन्न विभागों से काफी संख्या में अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के स्पाउज ने भाग लिया। मौके पर पर्यावरण विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष एवं ���हाप्रबंधक कुमार रंजीव, हरीश पॉल, मीना कुमारी, मारिया अहसन तथा अन्य अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारी भी उपस्थित रहे।

05 जून 2024 को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्यावरण दिवस के मौके पर फ्लोरल रंगोली प्रतियोगिता तथा उपर्युक्त सभी प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं को पुरस्कृत किया जाएगा।
