An hour after the strike, Yevhen - who sold his property to open a café in Podil district, Kyiv, near the Chornobyl Museum and officially opened the venue yesterday - was already back at work, serving coffee to everyone through the shattered windows.
His mother was there too, offering sweets.
This is how Ukrainian business lives.

The moment of one of today’s Russian strikes on Kyiv.
I can see that fewer and fewer people are reading news from Ukraine. I understand that on a Sunday morning, people don’t want to read about war. They want to sleep a little longer, drink good coffee, and sit in the sun. I understand that. The algorithms on X limit content about war, destruction, and suffering. You have to make an effort to even see this information.
All of this is understandable on a human level. But unfortunately, if you remove Putin and the war from your information feed, they do not disappear from reality.
Putin is a sadist and a maniac. He is a threat to all of humanity.
There needs to be active resistance. News from Ukraine needs to be shared. People need to keep their focus.
Despite a sleepless night, I’m still here. And I’m grateful to everyone who continues to stand with us.
One day, we’ll drink morning coffee together in a beautiful, peaceful Kyiv.
Lviv today (Ukrainian Easter)
Due to forced Russification and the genocides in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian traditions have now survived only in western Ukraine. Although the east is Ukrainian and the population considers itself Ukrainian and does not want to be part of Russia, it has lost its Ukrainian culture along with its language. That is why Russia is so keen to Russify the whole of Ukraine.

Russia brutally struck the central part of Lviv, a city of exceptional cultural value and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Damage was caused to the UNESCO World Heritage.
I urge UNESCO Director-General @UNESCO_DG to immediately respond to this crime in the strongest terms.
Ukraine will use all available mechanisms to protect our cultural heritage and ensure accountability. Russia’s brutal violations of international law must be met with accountability.
Not only the center, but also residential areas of Lviv have been struck.
Throughout the day, Russia is terrorising many cities accross Ukraine with swarms of “Shahed” drones: Lviv, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and others. There are damages and casualties among civilians.
Russia is doing exactly what the Iranian regime is doing in the Middle East, but in the middle of Europe. Russia proves its status of a terrorist state. And this is how it must be dealt with — through strength, not weakness, and increased pressure on all fronts.
Four years of fire—and Ukraine is still standing.
From Zmiinyi Island to today, the message hasn’t changed. Thank you to everyone helping shield Ukraine's sky and save lives.

Kyiv is the only capital on earth where New Year arrives in silence.
While the world celebrates with fireworks, Ukrainians have to listen for drones.
Wherever you are in the world, think of Ukraine and remember who caused this
It must be the first time I have seen so many carolers, this is absolutely amazing!
This is just the third year when the Christmas date is set to the original 25th of December. The Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR), the modern Ukraine's predecessor, celebrated Christmas on December 25th. It's wonderful how people are happily returning to their traditions and honoring them. In all the years when Christmas was according to the “Soviet schedule”, I have never seen so many songs and such vibrancy. When “nature is cleansed” of russian oppression, the colors of life return to their rightful place. 💫

In 1932–1933, Stalin’s regime made a decision to destroy Ukrainians as a political nation capable of seeking an independent state.
To achieve this, it imposed impossible grain procurement quotas, the blockade of entire villages, repression, and a ban on moving to other Soviet republics. People were stripped of their last remaining food and left to die. In the information sphere, any documentation of swelling from starvation or death by hunger was strictly forbidden.
Today, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 and the mass artificial famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947. We remember the millions of Ukrainians whom the communist totalitarian regime murdered by starvation – methodically and deliberately.
As Russia again commits crimes against humanity on Ukrainian soil – mass killings, occupation, deportations – we see the continuity of Kremlin’s methods. As then, the aim is to destroy our culture, language, identity, and very statehood. The memory of the Holodomor helps the world better understand the nature of Russia’s current war against Ukraine and its genocidal practices.
On 22 November at 16:00, Ukrainians in Ukraine and abroad will pause for a moment of silence to commemorate those murdered by famine. We call on everyone to visit local memorial sites and, with nightfall, to light a candle in the window – wherever you are.
The Holodomor was a series of artificial famines by the USSR in 1921–1923, 1932–1933, and 1946–1947. The most devastating (1932–1933) was a genocide of Ukrainians, taking millions of lives.
Remember those who died of hunger on their own land.
Remember those responsible for it🧵
