“raised in love” - martin

martin doesn’t feel like the beginning of something, but rather like a place to rest. there is a kind of steadiness in him that feels so rare for someone who is only seventeen. not the kind of steadiness that comes from being untouched by the world, but the kind that comes from having been loved enough to feel safe in it.

he is sensitive without being insecure. ambitious without being calculating. generous without losing himself in the process. and there is something so quietly beautiful about that.

you can see the traces of a healthy, loving home in him. in the way he carries himself, in the way he treats people, in the way he seems to know that he is allowed to take up space in this world. there is something about being raised by people who love you gently but firmly, who know when to encourage you and when to simply hold your hand, who make sure you never have to wonder whether you are worthy of being loved.

and when his father says, “i’m your first fan,” i think about how much a sentence like that can mean to a child. how it becomes something you carry with you long after the person who said it has left the room. how it becomes a little voice inside your head that reminds you that someone believed in you before the rest of the world even knew your name.

maybe that is what moves me so much about martin. the feeling that he has been given something precious before he ever had to earn it. that he knows what it means to be loved, and that he gets to carry that love with him as he grows into the person he wants to become.

there is something deeply comforting about watching a young person grow up without having to harden themselves to survive. to watch someone become ambitious without becoming cruel, confident without becoming arrogant, and strong without having to abandon their softness.

i hope the world is kind to him. i hope he gets to keep that softness. i hope he never feels like he has to become someone else to deserve the love he has already been given.

because there is something so beautiful about a person who has been raised in love, and who, in turn, makes the world feel a little more loving just by being in it.
