My MG Hector Plus caught fire moments after displaying a “Check Gearbox” warning. Steering became hard, smoke appeared, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. A miraculous escape.
More than a month later, there is still no satisfactory explanation regarding the cause of the fire
Dear @XSupport,
My post gained significant traction within the first 24 hours, reaching over 150K views, but since then its distribution has almost completely stopped despite continued engagement. Could you please check whether any visibility restrictions or technical issues are affecting its reach? If so, I request a review.
I hope the platform’s distribution decisions remain independent and are not influenced by any external corporate interests. I would appreciate transparency if any restrictions have been applied.”
Thank you

Thank you for your support, Sir. We have initiated legal proceedings and are also exploring criminal negligence charges against the MG service team at the Jahangirpuri, Delhi workshop. This is not just about one vehicle—it is about accountability and consumer safety. We are determined to pursue this to its logical conclusion. This fight will be a landmark one.

Plz clarify
Dear Sir,
Whatever your source may be, the information shared with you is completely incorrect.
My vehicle has not been replaced by MG. I have received no monetary compensation from MG. It is the top-end MG Hector Plus, and no aftermarket accessories, no local wiring, and no unauthorized modifications were ever carried out.
For the sake of clarity, I would like to place the timeline on record:
• 20 September 2025 – The vehicle broke down, and I contacted MG Roadside Assistance (RSA) for support.
• 20 September 2025 – MG RSA personnel attended the vehicle and arranged replacement of the battery.
• 4 January 2026 – The vehicle was serviced at the authorized MG workshop at Jahangirpuri, Delhi.
• 22 April 2026 – While driving, the vehicle suddenly displayed a “Check Gearbox” warning. The steering became hard, smoke emerged from the engine compartment, and within moments the vehicle caught fire in the crowded Delhi University area. It was nothing short of a miraculous escape.
Since then, the vehicle has not been replaced, and I have received no compensation from MG.
I therefore request @MGSupportIndia and @MGMotorUK to publicly clarify the correct facts. If anyone is claiming that the fire was caused by aftermarket accessories or local modifications, I request them to disclose the basis of that claim, as no such modifications were ever made to my vehicle.

I am shocked that such a serious claim involving a vehicle fire has been rejected through an AI-assisted WhatsApp message and a one-page letter containing sweeping allegations without furnishing any supporting evidence.
Your rejection alleges “unauthorised electrical modifications” and even “misrepresentation” but provides no technical basis or documentary proof for these allegations.
Accordingly, I call upon ICICI Lombard to immediately provide, within 7 days, certified copies of all documents relied upon while rejecting my claim, including:
Surveyor’s Report.
Investigator’s Report.
Forensic/Fire Investigation Report, if any.
Photographs, inspection notes and technical findings.
Any expert opinion relied upon.
Every document, report, correspondence or material that formed the basis of the rejection decision.
Until these documents are supplied, your allegations remain completely unsubstantiated. Failure to provide the above documents will compel me to seek appropriate relief before the Insurance Ombudsman, Consumer Commission and other competent authorities, including seeking adverse inference against ICICI Lombard for withholding material evidence.
@sanjay1193 Dear sir
No, that is not true.
MG has not replaced my vehicle.
MG has not paid me any monetary compensation.
The incident is genuine, and the video is from the actual day of the fire.
The allegation that the fire was caused by accessories installed at a local shop is false.
@sanjay1193 Its top model. So no modifications required.
I have given the timeline of replacement of battery by RSA of MG in sept 2025
After that vehicle was serviced in Mg workshop in january 2026 .
Vehicle caught fire on 22nd April 2026.
Initially confident of Redressal so did not
