I read a piece by Cornell Professor Eswar Prasad in The Financial Times, London. He has rightly praised the Modi government for its reform efforts and for making India the fastest growing economy in the world. But he is concerned about the unfinished reform agenda in the run up to the elections.

In my view, PM Modi will want to press ahead with policymaking while also highlighting the achievements of the last 9 years. Officials must support him.

One challenge highlighted in the article is about the education system. I believe the key is to take a leap forward with digital universities. And to give vocational training also the status of a university degree so that youngsters dont think it gives less status . The second challenge Prasad talks about in the article is corruption. There has been a big clean up under PM Modi but the best way to totally eliminate corruption and ease the way for entrepreneurs is to reduce powers of officials and encourage self-certification.

The author is right that India has a very favourable domestic environment with a stable, well performing government and good global positioning in the context of China plus one. With further reforms in education, ease of doing business and what I call the below the ground sector, which will unleash the potential of natural resources, India's growth will be the fastest ever. Agle chaar paanch mahino mein hum bahut kuch kar sakte hain.
