Randy Arozarena stepped out of the box on three straight pitches because he knew the pitcher wasn’t throwing him a strike.
The count went to 3-0.
Next pitch, he absolutely nuked a home run.
One of the most disrespectful at-bats in MLB history.

I met someone this week who shared that in the 90s Bain paid employees to make slides for customer presentations. This was pre-PowerPoint so the job was literally using an exacto knife and ruler to cut and splice together materials for overhead transparencies. As soon as laptops, PowerPoint and digital projectors became widespread this job went away. Somehow the consulting industry is 10x the # of employees that it was then 🤣
What Aaron is describing is how almost every technology adoption cycle has played out. No evidence to suggest AI will happen differently
"I hope your beeper doesn't go off."
A year ago today, a racist tried to make a 'joke' about me being killed by Israel. It was the 1st time I've ever walked off of live TV. That night CNN said they'd ban the racist from their air. But in the year since, I myself haven't been invited back on CNN. So was I banned too? The victim of the abuse, alongside the abuser? @CNN@CNNPR
wife: please just don’t say anything stupid
me: ok
[later at dinner with her coworkers]
me after a lull in the conversation: roosters lowkey be waking up early as hell lol
them: what
me: i said roosters be waking up early
The Tom Homan thing is perfect. He’s accused of a thing, but who can say, and look even if he took bags of cash, well, probably some other person did a bad thing, and besides, he’s hurting Bad People. Only a nerd could care about this! You’re not a nerd are you?
You see? Trump is what happens when people don’t care. They don’t care if he lies, cheats, steals, rapes, breaks the law, or makes a gazillion dollars while in office. They wouldn’t care if he was a pedophile, or if he shot someone in the middle of NYC. He’s their retribution. Period. Right, @megynkelly?
So this woman is brought to the US when she's eight years old, becomes a scholarship university student to become a nurse... and is then seized by ICE, and kept in harsh captivity for six months - which wouldn't happen to most actual criminals.
Why do this? Who was she hurting
The point that Linus makes is right but his style is not. It sets the wrong precedent for the younger generation to be just as toxic as this. You can criticise the code without being abusive. I've seen enough quotes saying this is based, it is not.
If I tell my colleague I will not merge their code because of a style issue, they will learn and fix it, i don't have to call it garbage to cause trauma.
I don't get to write about a lot of good news, but this is a really big deal — the global fur industry has collapsed over the last decade. My rundown on the numbers and how it unfolded: https://t.co/jJDXeEx0yG
One lesson of DOGE is that a lot of federal govt spending is sent to old ppl (social security, Medicare) and affluent individuals/orgs (defense, health spending) but the spending with the highest “lives saved per dollar spent” tends to go to v poor people or to scientists working on ignored diseases
So if you’re trying to slash govt spending without upsetting old/affluent interests you’re (a) going to fail to find meaningful cuts and (b) inevitably gutting some of the most life-giving programs.
(And that’s bad.)
