A QB decision in Indy: Colts named Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback for their Sept. 7 regular-season opener vs. the Miami Dolphins, per @HolderStephen and me.
Sources: The Falcons officially will be keeping QB Kirk Cousins on their roster past 4 PM eastern today, triggering a guarantee on a $10M roster bonus that is due in 2026, sources told ESPN’s Field Yates and me.
Former Ohio starting QB Tyler Tettleton, who also has coached at his alma mater, recently interviewed for the Bobcats head coaching job, sources say.
Tettleton, who is currently the #Jaguars assistant RBs coach, was their pass-game coordinator in 2021. A coach on the rise.
Tonight, the Colts offense had:
-- 6 points, their lowest of the year
-- 0 red zone drives, their lowest of the year
-- 13 first downs, their lowest of the year
-- 227 yards of offense, their lowest of the year
-- -0.35 EPA/play, their lowest of the year
@HolderStephen I think he was right when he said a week or two ago that he needed to stop thinking about his accuracy so much and just rip it. Throw it, don’t aim it. Looked good in a small sample size this week.
@cmccollo Who else are you going to pay? All the other max-deal quality players clambering to play for Indiana? Gotta make do with what you have - life of a small market team.
@LordsManor Number one on my wishlist is a notification for assigned families who lack the resources to be productive and could be useful elsewhere - such as farmers assigned to a farmhouse in the winter, hunters at the animal cap, etc.
Awesome game!
Matt Painter on success, and setting and managing expectations. Question by @BFQuinn
“Your expectation is your best season. So this is my 19th season at Purdue, so if we don’t win the Big Ten and we don’t go to the elite eight, it’s a bad year. That’s a hair harsh, but it’s the way it is. And so you just wanna keep moving that bar… some of the guys that get treated unfairly, I’d love to be them. I’d love to be somebody who wins the national championship and goes to Final Fours and then you go to a Sweet Sixteen and like, ‘what the hell happened?’ You know, I’d love to have that issue, right?”
“But that’s what we’re working towards. You know, we’re working towards being able to be a program that can consistently get into the tournament and advance and have those long runs, but also not lose our soul in the process.”
