If you’re wondering why there are so many physicians who’ve gotten into the disability insurance space, why so many financial advisors also sell it, and why you get COUNTLESS emails from agents who know *exactly* what kind of policy you need, it’s at the crossroads of a NEED and being VERY profitable.

50% of your first year’s premium will go to the agent who sold the policy.

I don’t contend the commission is inappropriate.

I do contend that there are a lot of blogs and agencies that slap the word “physician” or “doctor” on their label and hence there’s a glut of options that seem worth consideration.

Too many options.

Finding someone who is actually an expert, isn’t hampered from giving the best advice due to poor business practices of their sponsors and who isn’t running a disability insurance policy mill is tough.

I know of 5 who I’d trust, one of which I bought my policy from and with who I have a business relationship with (See?).
