The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), is an intergovernmental organization based in Geneva that operates the largest proton accelerator laboratory in the world. Its research scientists not only contributed to the establishment of the world wide web as we know it but continue to engage in cutting edge research and use cases crucial in space, health, software engineering and many other fields.

I was delighted to meet Mr. Martin Gastal, @CERN Adviser for the MENA region, in Geneva. We discussed advancing Kenya’s Science & Technology sector by pursuing a formal International Cooperation Agreement (ICA) with CERN.

I accompanied H.E. @WilliamsRuto, President of the Republic of Kenya, on his two day State Visit to South Africa at the invitation of H.E. President @CyrilRamaphosa.

The visit reaffirmed the strong partnership between Kenya and South Africa, with the two leaders agreeing to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, industrial development, education, transport, health and skills development.

A key outcome was the signing of six bilateral instruments covering trade facilitation, maritime cooperation, technical and vocational training, arts and culture, sports, and gender equality and women empowerment.

The two Presidents also underscored the importance of expanding bilateral trade, strengthening private sector engagement through the newly established Joint Business Council, advancing implementation of the AfCFTA, and promoting African-led solutions to peace, security and development challenges.

Kenya and South Africa remain committed to strengthening regional integration, economic transformation and a more effective and representative global governance system for the benefit of Africa and its people.

Data is no longer just a technical tool; it is a cornerstone of modern statecraft and foreign policy. In a highly contested world, national data systems must be treated as critical public infrastructure. To negotiate trade, secure climate finance, and manage regional security from a position of strength, the Global South must be a co-architect of its own knowledge, producing and governing its own trusted evidence.

We must leverage digital public infrastructure and trusted data-sharing to counter misinformation, protect democracy, and bridge development gaps.

PRESIDENTIAL Escort Commander Noah Maiyo moved to Vigilance as William Sawe takes over after a serious breach on President Ruto; several other officers moved.
Why did he take the fall?:
The escort commander despite being answerable to the Inspector General of Police, has sweeping powers and total control of the presidential escort unit.

He is the only officer in PEU who can stop the president from “moving” at any given time if he deems such movement a security risk.

The presidential escort unit draws its officers from the elite Recce squad most of whom have undergone intensive close protection training overseas.

The presidential security RING is three-phased and at any given time moves in a rhombus shape with the president at the center of it.

The outermost circle consists of individuals generally known to the security detail, the second ring is layered by top government officials and the third and most crucial circle has been vetted, cleared, and every member in the circle is known to the security detail.
