📝New Op-ed!
Is Canada selling a false bill of goods to foreign-trained professionals?🧑💻
In a new op-ed, Alka Kumar @kumaralks from the @cercmigration and #Integration program at @TorontoMet says Canada is not helping our #immigrants realize their full potential.

@CBCOntarioToday@COVIDSciOntario My question: guidelines for post-travel if you have mild symptoms- in this case, abdominal pain-recommend a 10 day isolation period. What about if the rapid test is negative but abdominal pain persists? Does the person still need to isolate 10 days based on federal guidelines?

Well said, Craig. The fact that people see no other options, and that they feel the need to resort to such inhuman and desperate measures is the real question/ problem.
Excellent, must listen interview with @cercmigration @RyersonResearch@RyersonU colleague @CraigDamian on how our border policies & those elsewhere foreseeably lead to such tragedies. Highlights upcoming #stca agreement case at Supreme Court & @ccrweb & @AmnestyNow work #citimm

ICYMI: International students contribute to Canada's economy and society — and #COVID19 hit them hard. @saraAsalya and @kumaralks say Canada must do more to support them, in this piece published in partnership with @TorontoStar . #cdnpoli#cdnimm https://t.co/duPMM1gNp4
If you missed Friday's Video Town Hall on immigration, @ferjourno of @NewCdnMedia has a recap in @TorontoStar. https://t.co/Guy4Yk2cWl #cdnimm @cercmigration
#opinion for @TorontoStar and @PolicyResponse read about policy gaps that must be addressed; international students bring huge talent, skills, and experience to the labour market and to Canadian society. My most recent piece co-authored with @saraAsalya @cercmigration @intstudent
With a new school year ahead of us, the Canadian government must do more to support international students through their studies and make it easier for them to stay here after they graduate.

Sorry friends, I was unable to return Canada day greetings you sent yesterday, certainly I did not initiate any. It felt like a celebratory occasion came along but that we had also experienced collective tragedy, one that’s ongoing. Reflection is certainly needed but what after?
Loved and appreciated the book launch conversations on family narratives yesterday, @corrine and all the amazing presenters! Looking forward to the upcoming event. Anybody interested in narrative practice methods and collaborative practices, do check it out. Migration peeps #cerc
'Stories changing lives' - a conversation to launch this edited book - and too many contributors to list in one tweet! https://t.co/GD83K2gJv0 @ANarrativeRP
Important conversation. I believe we must be thoughtful, reflective, courageous to critique, call out injustice. Racism, bigotry, prejudice, whoever it’s target, is WRONG and must not be tolerated. Let’s be grateful for the good, fight to root out the bad.
@RitikaGoelTO I talked about this in my interview in this article https://t.co/0OJHTwXjKs! I was heavily criticized & my loyality to Canada was questioned! I was told how dare you are as an immigrant to say this and not to be grateful to Canada!
What an amazing project, digital storytelling at it’s best: explorations of individual identity, unique presentations, heartfelt, honest, moving, powerful, creative, beautiful, poetic! Congratulations @cercmigration @triandafyllidou@CyrusSundarStar@TorontoStar@globeandmail
That’s such a purposeful and uplifting way to think about our role as teachers/educators, also good in terms of an inspirational role model, embodying values of justice, equity, support, accountability always, thanks #tarashannonwrites#bearessentially

Disgusting, sad, angering, shameful, amounts to murder when people can’t choose and decide how they should keep themselves safe in the middle of a deadly virus. Doesn’t feel like an India I know at all.
