@striver_79 And once they do every other company will follow. Many companies have already moved away. While 18 year old in US creates things like cluely which was actually revolutionary and changed interview landscape people in India always are stuck in the past.
@striver_79 lol why is Indian entrepreneurs always light years behind US but act like they are doing something genius. DSA is dead, companies are moving away from these kind of interviews. Google is currently testing their new interview format without DSA.
Went to NVIDIA HQ today.
Two interesting observations:
1. Snacks and coffee are not free: you have to pay for them. This would be unusual at Big Tech, but no big deal for devs here. "We use this thing called salary to buy stuff we actually need." Food for thought (literally!)
Two months ago I was fired by Google for creating the Google Workspace CLI. It went viral, hit #1 on Hacker News, gained thousands of GitHub stars and many thousands of actual users in just a couple days.
It was an incredible, confusing journey, from directors and leaders asking what they could learn from the tool to getting grilled by legal about why the Google logo and brand colors are on the Google Workspace GitHub code repositories.
I think the cause was that Workspace and certain leaders (and projects) were afraid of being disrupted. But the fear wasn't specific to my CLI, it was a broader fear in what agents meant for Workspace. Either way, the irony of my termination was the announcement at Google Cloud Next two days before I was fired that an official Workspace CLI was coming.
I want this out there because it is easier for me to explain my story and it is an experience I want to fully own. It's also part of my healing.
Nearly 7 years at Google was an incredible opportunity for me and I was fortunate to have wonderful teammates and a manager that fully supported me through these last few months. Thank you.
Yes. I travel globally and every flight carrying Indians is absolutely clogged with wheelchairs at offload. They either have a diet that makes them weak and feeble or they're just scamming the system. Probably both.
The "Why" in "Why is Meta destroying its engineering organization?" is neither an interrogative adverb nor a relative adverb. It is inevitable.
The original culture was set by the pioneers who love chaos, who want to discover, and hence hack. Settlers hate chaos, they want order and hence count the beans.
As the settlers slowly eroded the original values at Meta, many of the original culture bearing pioneers left for new frontier (pun intended) companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, which sped up the flywheel of decay.
In Infra this was very apparent where the all of the dev-centered leadership was replaced by leaders from production engineering. While many of these folks are Meta lifers, their job was always to reign in chaos, and not to break things.
Also, for the longest time Meta had built-in back pressure against culture dilution by putting everyone through bootcamp, effectively brainwashing new hires to embrace the hacker way.
But then after Covid and claiming that AI is a more efficient onboarding tool, the same bean counters behind the current applied AI org, cancelled bootcamp.
This was also BTW when the corporate headquarter's address was changed from "1 Hacker Way" to "1 Meta Way".
At that point, it was just a matter of time before the original engineering culture would collapse, which is what we are all witnessing unfolding in real-time now.
And Meta and Sun Microsystems have become literally a different side of the same sign.
Some context on what the snacks are fixing.
May 2026: Meta lays off 8,000 people. 10% of the company. one of the richest quarters in Meta's history. $26.8 billion in net income. then the layoffs.
also May 2026: 7,000 more employees forcibly reassigned to a new division called Applied AI. not asked. reassigned. their job: generating coding puzzles and training data to make Meta's models smarter. one employee described it to Wired as "literally the gulag."
also April 2026: Meta announced it would track employee mouse movements and keystrokes.
also last week: an employee at a livestreamed all-hands told a Meta AI executive to "tell him he's a piece of s**t." on camera. to leadership. publicly.
the CTO's diagnosis: Meta did an "atrocious job" rolling out the AI reorg.
the fixes:
— cap managers at 20 direct reports instead of 50
— better microkitchens
— bigger travel budget
— snacks
— employees conscripted into the gulag can now apply to leave it
the keystroke tracking is mostly still on.
zuckerberg told employees this week to use AI more aggressively.
the AI they're training is the thing that replaced their colleagues.
the snacks are free though.
Opendoor shutting its India office is terrible news for India, and almost nobody is pricing it in.
India's tech and outsourcing industry generates $315 billion a year, employs nearly 6 million people, and accounts for roughly 7% of GDP. Entire cities were built on one trade: Western companies paying Indian wages for process work instead of American wages.
Opendoor just showed exactly how AI unwinds that trade.
Here's the mechanism. Companies never offshored because they loved managing teams 12 time zones away. They offshored because their software was broken. Opendoor's 250-person India team existed to handle manual workflows across fragmented systems. Humans as glue between tools that couldn't talk to each other.
Then Kaz unified the systems and mandated AI by default. Headcount per transaction dropped from 11 to 1. Acquisition velocity rose 4.2x in seven months. The glue work vanished, and with it, the entire economic case for the offshore team. The stock rose 8% on the news.
Now run that logic across every Fortune 500 back office. Claims processing, invoice reconciliation, tier-1 support, document review. The exact task profile India industrialized is the exact task profile AI automates best: repetitive, digital, rules-based, no physical presence required.
The wage arbitrage was $60K American vs $8K Indian. AI does the same work for $400 of inference. No salary can undercut that.
The jobs that survive are the ones near the customer. Those are in America by definition. India built a $300 billion industry exporting the one category of work AI eats first.
Entire off-shore team in India (200+) was laid off by OpenDoor and is being replaced by smaller ai-native teams in the US.
This is a watershed moment in AI Ops. It shows how advancements in frontier models are paying off and how it affects the cost-arbitrage that made India a popular offshoring destination.
The entire outsourcing playbook has moved. Might see do away with ops-heavy workforces to nimble ai-native teams on-shore.
my company replaced our data labeling team with an ai model. fired 14 people. saved $900k a year.
the ai learned from our old labels. which were wrong. because we underpaid the team.
so the ai confidently labeled dog photos as cat. for 6 months.
we trained our main model on garbage. it failed validation last week.
now we're re-labeling everything from scratch. manually.
the 14 people we fired? they all got better jobs. none are coming back.
we're paying a vendor $1.2M to fix it.
the ceo said lesson learned. then bought a new monitor for his home office.
Funny story from work. Working with an Indian PM in Bangalore and an American consultant on internal project; for some reason the former thought he could shout at the latter. The American shut him up immediately and asked for their managers to be present on next call.
One big reason behind U.S. visa fraud is Telugu Indian parents (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states).
They push their kids to go to America, get a master's degree, and find a job.
For them, having someone in the U.S.A is a status symbol — honesty doesn't matter.
The person comes on a student visa to get an H1B, then goes to a fake consultancy owned by Indians.
The consultancy files the H1B without a real job.
Girls' parents want to marry their daughter to any H1B holder who has a master's degree and filed for a green card (I-140).
They think that's the only quality that counts.
They don't care if the couple will be happy or not. They only see money — husband on H1B, wife on H4 EAD working multiple jobs with fake degrees and experience.
Their kids get automatic U.S. citizenship.
They buy homes in both India and America.
Parents proudly say, "We own properties in both countries."
Harsh truth: Honest Americans and Indians lose jobs and become homeless. Families suffer — financial stress, broken families, children addicted to drugs, and the working class crushed on both sides.
@POTUS and U.S. Senators: wake up and stop this visa fraud.

🚨INDIAN H-1B WORKERS LEAVING TEXAS IN DROVES—HOME PRICES PLUNGE 9%
Trump’s H-1B visa crackdown is triggering a housing bust in Dallas suburbs like Frisco, Celina, and Prosper.
New $100,000 visa fees, higher salary requirements, and state-level freezes on H-1B petitions, combined with AI-driven tech layoffs, have forced many Indian workers to leave the country within 60 days of losing their jobs.
As a result, home prices in Collin County suburbs have dropped nearly 9% year-over-year, builders are stuck with 125 unsold luxury homes, and foreclosures have risen 44%.
