In Norway, nearly 1 in 3 conscripts are women, and Norway was the first NATO country to introduce universal conscription.

How does gender balance strengthen defence capability?

🪖 A force that reflects society’s diversity is better prepared to understand and respond to modern security challenges.

From training in Norway to the front line 🇺🇦

Recently, Norwegian instructors bid farewell to a new cohort of Ukrainian soldiers returning home after completing their training in Norway. The front line, and the fight for freedom, now await them.

Tomorrow marks four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine represents the most serious security policy challenge facing Europe and Norway, emphasises Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.

‘Ukraine’s struggle for freedom, sovereignty and democracy directly strengthens our own security. Norway stands with Ukraine. We will continue our support — political, economic and military — for Ukraine’s freedom, and for a just and lasting peace in Europe.’

Norway will allocate NOK 85 billion in support to Ukraine in 2026, of which NOK 70 billion will be military assistance.

Norway will procure British Type-26 frigates 🇳🇴🇬🇧

The Norwegian government has selected The United Kingdom as a strategic partner, and will procure British frigates for the Royal Norwegian Navy.

This will be the largest procurement for the Norwegian Armed Forces ever PM @jonasgahrstore and Minister of Defence @toreosa said during Sunday´s press conference.
