Hot take- the biggest barriers to trying new hobbies in Kenya is elitism. Cyclists geeking over bikes, hikers flexing salomons, car guys making it about status. If your community scares beginners, it’s not growing its gatekeeping
Dear International Community,
I am writing to draw urgent attention to the alarming situation unfolding in Kenya. The police forces in our country are resorting to excessive violence against peaceful protestors who are simply exercising their fundamental rights.
A peaceful protestor, advocating for justice and human rights, has been brutally shot by police. This tragic incident highlights the severe and unwarranted measures being employed to suppress dissent and silence the voices of citizens. The protestor was participating in a non-violent demonstration, striving to make our nation a better place for all.

From Crisis to Clicks: An Adventure of Self-Discovery Through Photography
Back in 2017, I was 24 and fresh out of college, and let's just say I was having a bit of a life crisis. I decided to do something quite different—I moved back with my parents in the village. Every day, I'd remind myself: 'I might not have it all figured out, but I sure know what I don't want.'
To make sense of this confusing time, I started a blog called 'Finding Alex.' It was all about trying to understand life, discovering who I really was, and breaking free from what society expected of me.
Living in that peaceful village had a profound effect on me. Everyday things—the sunset, the birds singing, waterfalls—suddenly seemed enchanting. That's when I fell in love with photography.
I told my parents about my crazy idea, and they may not have fully understood, but they showed their support by getting me a camera, a backpack, and hiking boots. And just like that, my adventure began.
Photography gave me a way to express myself. It felt like having a blank canvas where I could paint my own picture. It was like holding the reins of my own destiny.
Life had some surprises in store. I thought people liked my photos, but it turned out they wanted to experience those places too. So, I created 'Drifting'—a group of adventurous souls, some friends, some online pals. Together, we laid the foundation for @lets_drift today Kenya's biggest adventure platform.
In a nutshell:
My journey from a quarter-life crisis to adventure photography taught me that amazing adventures often begin in unexpected places. It taught me to embrace the unknown, enjoy the journey, and find wonder in the ordinary. 🚀✨
I have always dreamed to have my work hang on to as many Kenyan homes🖼️
Today I delivered this masterpiece to hang at @CiruSmith incredible home overlooking the GRV in Kinangop.
I am so fulfilled. Thanks Ciru for supporting the dream💕
