In 2012, Li Xiufeng, a 95-year-old Chinese woman, was declared dead after several attempts to wake her failed.

Two days after being pronounced dead, she was laid in her coffin, and the coffin was left open in her house for friends and family to pay their final respects.

As part of the ceremony, all her belongings were also burnt.

The proposed date for the burial was set two weeks after her death; however, a day before the burial, her relatives were terrified to discover that her body was no longer in the coffin.

They searched and found her cooking in the kitchen. When she was discovered, she said:

“I slept for a long time. After waking up, I felt so hungry and wanted to cook something to eat. I pushed the lid for a long time to climb out."
