WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV): “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
The Bible teaches that since we live in the Spirit, we must also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). It is important for a believer to learn how to walk before he runs or flies in the Spirit because this is the order ordained by God. When a man ignores this order, it affects his stability as he grows in the things of God.
But what does it mean to walk in the Spirit?
Walking speaks of steadiness, and consistency in applying the principles of God. It is the place where a man learns these principles and commits himself to practising them faithfully.
If a man struggles with the basics of spiritual life such as prayer, fasting, giving, service, fellowship, and the study of the Word, then he has not yet learnt to walk well in the realm of the Spirit. If his spiritual life is inconsistent, strong today and careless tomorrow, yielded this week and distracted the next, then he has not yet learned to walk.
In this place of walking, character is formed and the believer is trained in obedience. He learns how God leads, how God corrects and how God speaks.
Beloved, before great flights in the Spirit, there must be discipline in the basics. Consistency is the foundation of momentum that propels us into running or flying. So, be diligent and disciplined in the principles of this gospel.
As you gain mastery in your walk, you will be established, strengthened, and prepared for greater dimensions in God. Hallelujah!
FURTHER STUDY: Galatians 5:16; Colossians 2:6-7
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for the life to which I have been invited. You teach me to walk faithfully in Your ways. I am established in prayer, in the Word, in service, in obedience, and in fellowship with You. Where I have been inconsistent, strengthen me by Your grace. Where I have stumbled, lift me by Your mercy. I grow in stability each day, to the glory of Your Name, Amen.
FIX IT
Exodus 14:15–16 (NKJV): “And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea..”
There are issues you may face in life and keep crying out to God for deliverance, yet the truth of the matter is that God is waiting for you to fix them.
This was the experience of Moses and the children of Israel when they stood before the Red Sea, with Pharaoh and his army approaching from behind. It was a moment of crisis. But in that moment, the Lord asked Moses, “Why are you crying to Me?”
This truth does not nullify the importance of prayer or the need to seek God on issues. Rather, it emphasizes the need for us to exercise our God-given authority.
God may be asking you the same question concerning the situation you are facing: Why are you despairing? Why are you waiting for heaven to do what heaven has already empowered you to do?
Fix it.
Some persistent issues in the lives of believers remain because those believers have allowed them to persist. They have not risen to the authority they have in Christ. They have not declared that enough is enough. They have not been provoked to a holy anger that turns to the devil and puts him in his place.
Today, I desire to stir you into that place.
Fix that disease in your body. Fix that issue plaguing your marriage and threatening to tear it apart. Fix that ministry. Fix that business. Fix that pattern in your family. Fix that delay. Fix it!
FURTHER STUDY: Luke 10:19; Mark 11:23
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. I refuse to live helpless before situations You have empowered me to change. Today, I rise in faith, boldness, and spiritual authority. I declare that enough is enough. Every work of darkness ends, every crooked place is made straight, and every stubborn issue bows to the Name of Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
