@kevinhargaden I should never have doubted you

[Steve Wright @kweh]

@kevinhargaden The correct method is to tear your garments, smear ashes upon your head, and cry out to the heavens.

Any good writing out there on the use of "Amen" either in the Bible or the early church?

[Steve Wright @kweh]

@theodramatist @danremps No more checking to see if it's OUP, New York or OUP, Oxford.

@womeninchurch If carrot cake isn't consolation for the fall, I don't know what is.

Basil on the invention of cuisine: "Since we no longer see the tree of life, nor do we pride ourselves in that beauty, there have been given to us for our enjoyment cooks and bakers, and various pastries and aromas, and such things console us in our banishment from there."

[Steve Wright @kweh]

@womeninchurch I have to admit, though, pastries are a pretty good consolation for the entry of sin into the world.

[Steve Wright @kweh]

Thanks to @kevinhargaden for the endorsement!

Our new volume on the theology of Craig Keen has been published. It includes essays by Hauerwas, Caputo, Noble and others as well as some of the last work by Billy Abraham and Ted Jennings. I also wrote an essay for it: "On Loving Spiders" https://t.co/1OjxsUJn17 @wipfandstock

@JohannesFlacius @EOrthodoxy I have Geoffrey Wainwright's copy of Jenson's Story and Promise, signed by Jens.

A morning spent reading student PhD work while listening to Charlie Parker is a morning well spent.

Found in one of my marginal annotations on a Sonderegger article: "Vague, but beautiful"

[The Barth Center @TheBarthCenter]

We're deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Blanche Jenson. The papers of her late husband, Robert Jenson, would not be part of the Barth Center's collection without her tireless curation efforts. We are grateful for her life and witness.

[Steve Wright @kweh]

Sorry to hear of the passing of Blanche Jenson this morning. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Faculty work is either Teaching, Research, or Service. A philosopher at Rutgers recently proposed adding Outreach, since public-facing activity ought to be rewarded. Alan Jacobs goes one step further: Generativity. Read his generative thoughts here: https://t.co/44jDRbxvGp

[Steve Wright @kweh]

@_BenMyers_ @davidbunce @mattwilcoxen It's an incredibly inefficient innovation in the language. Instead of "She's going to preach", someone will say, "She's going to do a preach"!

[Steve Wright @kweh]

@_BenMyers_ @davidbunce @mattwilcoxen Twitter is crumbling these days, and this old exchange just popped up in my feed for some reason.

Anyway, just to say that "preach" is used widely as a noun in charismatic churches here in the UK: "Thanks for your preach today."

Since everyone is talking about ‘Barbenheimer’, throwback to April 16, 1988 when Ghibli premiered their ‘Grave of the Totoros’ double-feature. Imagine seeing siblings enjoy a bountiful summer harvest, followed by siblings starve to death in war torn Japan.
