@J_G_Motorsports@glen_reen@AlarmTechInc Glen is, essentially, the second Joey Gase. Understands the assignment and responsibly drives the car he's been given and doesn't tear up equipment. A finish like this with minimal damage is huge.
I was very pleased when I learned Glen would be running this car and this is why.
This probably explains why when I checked the Cuda's website roster a few days ago that Vanroboys wasn't on it while Vincent and Houle were (and are).
I'll miss Vanroboys and wish him well in Hartford.
Cuda probably need to sign one more left-handed defenseman after this signing of Messineo.
Allan/Hajek-Pohlkamp
LSW-McKeown
Sinn-Havelid
TBD-Oliphant
ECHL
Messineo-Sarsland
This is really solid and players slot out very well.
We're ending your week with more good news 📝 we have signed defenseman Thomas Messineo to an AHL contract for the 2026-27 season!

@HurrdatSports@OmahaLancers@RadioRicoAC@NESportsCouncil Once you end up involved in Midwest youth hockey, you quickly find out how big hockey is in Omaha (they do need a legit high school rink similar to the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, however).
Youth and ACHA in the state is growing big time. Girls' program is healthy in Omaha.
@KevinLacy22 💯The forward lines that have been made possible are VERY good. D also slots VERY well. This Libor Hajek pickup to allow Hajek and Allan to battle for the Sharks' 7th spot is also a great signing. (Hajek impressed me at World Championships.)
@JoshuaUtahNY@SanJoseSharks At the World Championships for Czechia, I thought he displayed good mobility, maintained tight gaps, made good decisions with the puck, and was able to win some battles with the puck in D-zone to break it out. He looked like a solid option for NHL 7th defenseman to me at WCs.
@IanBlogsHockey@CyclonePilot06 I read this as GMMG addressing the 7th defenseman opening by creating a competition between Hajek and Nolan Allan. Whoever isn't up with Sharks will pair with Eric Pohlkamp on first pair with Cuda. LSW likely second pair with McKeown.
@TommyJoeMartins@omeletocom Really good. The actor who played JD really captured the mixed emotions at the end.
I remember when Andy Belmont decided to essentially have a rental car in ARCA back in the late 90s and how much uproar there was.
Now it's almost all there is.
RJR really did a lot...
@IanBlogsHockey I prefer Nurse over Reilly. Nurse can drop to lower roles at the end of his contract if he declined. Him playing a 5th D role isn't inconceivable.
Morgan Reilly...
Plus, this keeps the door legitimately open for Cagnoni to play an offensive role this year and others later.
It'll be fascinating to see if the Sharks move Filip Bystedt to the wing on the Cuda. He's unlikely to wrestle a center spot away from Misa, Wennberg, or Ostapchuk in the future and the Cuda now have Alex Barre-Boulet, who probably isn't there to center the second line.
Still feel like the Sharks need to sign a 7th defenseman for the NHL (allows Allan-Pohlkamp for 1st D pair for Cuda to start).
Carson Soucy could make a lot of sense for one year, but Pierre-Olivier Joseph or Jacob Moverare as reclamation projects for one year could be a play.
@wornoutmechanic Nothing more fun than watching Richard Petty qualify up toward the front for a change only to get taken out by Greg Sacks... Sigh.
I do miss the Firecracker 400 (Pepsi 400) on July 4th in the morning, despite 43 hopes getting dashed each year. 1992 looked real promising...
@LockedOnSharks One other player that really impressed me was Phillip Sinn. Moved very well, confident with the puck--way better than his DEL stats would indicate.
I see him pairing with Havelid on the Cuda's third pair easily (helpful with Hache now in Laval).
@SanJoseSharks After watching that, I have one thing to say: Well done on identifying Phillip Sinn!
Feeling very good about Cuda D this year (Cuda and Sharks in general).
@Real_Max_Miller I wonder if he has the athleticism the Sharks look for. Watching him in person with the Iowa Wild, he is not fast cross crease.
He does have an active glove and I refer to some of what he does with his glove as a reference to my daughter.
@_R20N_@SanJoseSharks Mukhamadullin is essentially left-handed Kesselring (except Kesselring does have that cannon slapper).
Mukh has a sneaky hard shot, though.
