Brian Morales Garcia was born in Denver. His Colorado birth certificate says so. In April, Texas troopers stopped him for an alleged tinted window violation.

His attorney says he repeatedly told officers he was American and asked for a chance to get his documents.

They called ICE instead.
Four days later, he was on a deportation flight to Mexico. It took a federal lawsuit and nearly five months to bring him home.

One American wrongly deported is one too many. Stephen Miller’s mass deportation agenda adds pressure that makes mistakes like this far more likely.
America can secure its border, keep dangerous people out, and treat immigrants humanely without sweeping up its own citizens.
