In honor of #donorschooseproject & #TeacherAppreciationWeek, I'm going to shout out @EmilyRCWilson who I am THRILLED is translating "The Iliad," and tell her what her work has meant to my class. I will also share the hilarity of teens explaining "The Odyssey" for the rest of you.

@heymrsbond These are the moments that we love. I had a student write a middling essay in which they attempted to elaborate on a thesis that made my heart soar: that The Odyssey is about what it means to go hell, and World War Z is about what it means to have hell come to you. Glorious.
Happy World Autism Awareness Day!

@LetiziaWrites So when you are #onsub, is this something your agent takes the lead on in terms of contacting the publishers and submitting your manuscript? Given that many publishers don’t take blind submissions, is being agented a necessity of being on submission, in your opinion?
I rail every year in my class about how I am STILL WAITING for a big budget, actually GOOD version of The Odyssey to be made.
Is this what dogs feel like when they catch the car?? 😄😄
Srsly tho if Nolan does my girl Penelope dirty we riot
@rachkmc Thank you! Another question: if you had to break the publishing process down into phases, what would those be? I think sometimes it’s hard to envision and understand what phase you’re in at any given point
@haleypatricia_ You’re allowed to be successful! And sharing info about the querying process is valuable, even if it does bring out the sour grapes in some. Keep on keeping on!
@MaureenLangloss you could, knowing that she’ll sneakily read late, and let her have the joy of being a literary https://t.co/t2sZNpK9cC’s wonderful to be a kid thinking you’re getting away with something, while your parent knows the value of the thing you’re getting away with being reading.
