This alert is in effect for the municipal district of Willow Creek near Claresholm and Stavely (see map).
At 5:02 p.m. MDT, an extremely dangerous thunderstorm is located over Claresholm. This extremely dangerous thunderstorm is moving southeast at 50 km/h. Damaging wind gusts, baseball size or greater hail and heavy rain are possible. Locations and nearby areas that could be impacted include: Claresholm, Nobleford, Monarch.
Driving conditions will be difficult. Buildings and/or many trees will be destroyed. Large hail will cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

The Bald Range wildfire west of Summerland, BC ignited today and has already exploded to ~5000 hectares in size.
Evacuation orders are underway.

The #BaldRangeWildfire west of #Summerland BC is now mapped at 5000 hectares. That's exploded from a 1000 hectares from 2 hours ago. This is like the McDougall Creek fire from '23 all over again. Thoughts are with everyone in Summerland and the surrounding areas. Stay safe.
The current view from Faulder, British Columbia, Canada tonight as the Bald Range Fire continues to push into local communities.
The Bald Range wildfire (K51490), is located approximately 15 kilometres west of Summerland. Firefighters, structure protection personnel, helicopters and airtankers are responding.
Large scale evacuations are underway. A little rain could go a long way across North America.
The situation in the Summerland area is evolving quickly. If you are on evacuation order, leave now and follow all instructions from local emergency officials.
