At the time, these two were prominent figures in high society and philanthropy. They used their wealth and connections to gain access to world leaders, royalty, and religious figures.

There is no evidence suggesting the Pope had any personal relationship with them or knowledge of their criminal activities at the time.

Prosecutors used this and other photos to demonstrate the vast scope of these monster's network and their access to powerful global figures, which helped them cultivate an image of legitimacy and prestige.
