Fmr VA Conservative political consultant, turned observer, calling it as I see it. Father & Cowboys fan. Now just cruising life’s highway. Satire is a lost art.
Fed housing to @CIADirector boss? 😂 Can we get serious here? The @ODNIgov has ballooned to ridiculousness. I support @SenTomCotton position to realign it to its original intent as an opinion aggregator of the multiple intel agencies for #POTUS. No one can seriously believe the @NSAGov or the @CIA is under their command or has ever been.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has announced that he is appointing Bill Pulte, the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), to serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI), following the recent resignation of Tulsi Gabbard. Unlike Gabbard, Pulte has never served in the military or in any aspect of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
@bonchieredstate Beat cops, regardless of nation, often adopt the first narrative of events presented as fact, not simply as advance prospective information or allegation needing verification. The famous “ whoever calls first” syndrome.
Almost unheard of for #SCOTUS to grant cert to a prisoner self-filed habeas petitions. Could have a positive impact on ensuring whether federal inmates who work hard and complete rehabilitation programs earning time off their sentences can seek judicial relief when credit my not being correctly applied.
Today the Supreme Court granted a remarkably well drafted pro se petition for certiorari. (It was so good, in fact, that his reply brief was written by Davis Polk's Masha Hansford.) Read the pro se brief here: https://t.co/rOQ8tzcc5q
NBC NEWS: A former CIA senior officer with top secret-level clearance has been accused of secretly stashing millions of dollars in gold bars in his home that he said he needed for “work-related expenses”
Interesting Cruz and Paul floor spat -
Paul wanted to pass his bill transferring land to expand a Boys and Girls Club in Paducah. Cruz said Paul is blocking lots of popular bills that passed his Commerce Committee and singled out a bill that would require labels on Internet-connected devices with cameras
Cruz called Paul "The only libertarian on Planet Earth that is fighting to have more surveillance" and said he would allow the Paducah bill to pass but only alongside the "spy fridge bill"
Paul said it's a "false equivalency" to tie together a Boys and Girls Club "to a nationwide regulation with fines and fees" and dinged Cruz for trying to require AM radios in all cars. Cruz said "they want to silence conservative speech" by taking off AM radio
Paul asked Cruz to "tell us why you hate the Boys and Girls Club of Paducah. Don't say you have to accept a regulation on refrigerators"
(neither bill passed)
Today, Virginia gets to find out if Fairfax will have five Democrat members of Congress that all live within 20 miles of each other and represent towns that are further drives from them than New Jersey.
I don’t think this is a fair assessment of what @AssocAnderson was trying to say. He is not justifying Fairfax he’s highlighting the political intrastate chicanery going on at the time which caused exposure and allegations, cross allegations such as: is the Governor the guy in black face or not? First he said no then, he said yes. But you can’t get rid of him cause the LG might be a sexual abuser. Then again maybe not. TMac wants another go at Gov. meant Justin had to go. All this swirled and began the clock on the dissolution of the marriage. Fairfax’s actions are his own and they were tragic. My sense is Tim was highlighting the surrounding hurricane.
This is so good from @Jacob__Siegel, and sums up most of politics today: “Attention is also reflexive rather than deliberative; it has no goal beyond participation.”
You wouldn't be able to put a French flag in your X handle today, but for all that lost American equipment and spilled blood on the beaches of Normandy.
