🦠Can viruses protect us from cancer?
🧬A fascinating new review in Nature Reviews Cancer argues that the human virome may do more than cause cancer. Through trained immunity, molecular mimicry, and endogenous retroviruses, certain viral exposures may enhance antitumor immunity. The concept of "virome-guided cancer prevention" using the CE-1 epitope in high-risk HCC patients could open an entirely new avenue for cancer prevention and immunotherapy.

📣Presented the CSF1R expression as canditate prognostic biomarker in advanced gastric cancer at poster session in #ESMOGI26
Although tumor associated macrophage are considered to contribute to tumor progression, clinical significance of CSF1R expression remain uncleared.
This study may serve as definining appropriate patient population for CSF1R targeting therapy.

📣Signatera receives regulatory approval in Japan for colorectal cancer.
🇯🇵The PMDA approval comes with supporting position statements from the Japan Society of Clinical Oncology and guidance from the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology.
🩸It was also supported by data from the GALAXY arm of the CIRCULATE-Japan clinical trial. GALAXY provided evidence that MRD-positive patients receive significant benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy, while MRD-negative patients do not.
🧬Natera now plans to submit a follow-on application to the PMDA to expand Signatera into bladder cancer as CDx of adjuvant atezolizumab for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

World's first CAR T-cell therapy approval for solid tumor. satricabtagene autoleucel (satri-cel) for later-line patients with claudin18.2-positive, HER2-negative advanced gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma.
While CAR T-cell therapy can be curative for some patients with blood cancers, its march into solid tumors has been slower and more challenging.
