Deputy Director, Chief Political Commissariat, Uganda Police, CP Hillary Kulayige, has urged Political Commissars (PCs) and Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) to be proactive problem-solvers and provide people-centred solutions to security challenges and crime in their respective areas.

CP Kulayige made the remarks this afternoon in Jinja during an orientation meeting for Political Commissars, Regional CLOs and District CLOs from Busoga Sub-region policing areas.

He called on the officers to uphold discipline, hard work and visibility, stressing that the knowledge shared during the orientation should be translated into practical action.

Speaking at the opening of the 18th Inter-Forces Games at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu, he said the games go beyond competition by promoting unity, discipline, resilience, teamwork and professionalism among the security forces.

. @KawalaRachael "On 22 August 2026, Police received information regarding an abandoned firearm in a dilapidated building that was undergoing demolition in Kijabijo Cell, Kimwanyi Ward, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

Police officers from Kasangati responded to the information and recovered an AK-47 rifle together with several rounds of ammunition from the old building.

The Directorate of Welfare, Production & Sports, in partnership with @RoofingsGroupUG , has launched the distribution of 50,000 mango, avocado and jackfruit seedlings to police officers.

Speaking at the launch, Acting Director of Welfare, Production & Sports, SCP Timothy Halango, urged officers to embrace the initiative and stressed the importance of accountability through regular follow-ups.

So far, 106 officers at Nsambya Barracks have benefited, with the programme set to expand nationwide.

Police Children’s School, Nsambya has received water purifiers from Spouts Ceramics in partnership with Old Mutual Insurance Company.

Spouts Ceramics Sales Manager Moses Opwata said the initiative is aimed at giving back to the community, promoting access to safe drinking water and helping prevent waterborne diseases such as typhoid and diarrhoea.

The Head Teacher, Ms. Allen Muzaki, appreciated Spouts Ceramics and Old Mutual for the gesture, saying it will contribute to the health and wellbeing of pupils, improve concentration and support better learning.

Today, I engaged officers from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) at the National Leadership Training Institute, Kyankwanzi, on the Role of Social Media in Uganda’s socio-economic Transformation.

The session explored the growing power of social media in shaping narratives, building public trust, enhancing institutional visibility and delivering timely, effective communication in today’s fast-evolving digital environment along Uganda’s Socio-Economic Path.

The 3rd Edition of the #IGPCup2026 is underway at Kira Road Police Arena, Kamwokya.

The Inspector General of Police today officially launched the tournament, reaffirming the Uganda Police Force's commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork and stronger community partnerships through sport.

The IGP urged all officers, directorates, units and departments to embrace regular sporting activities to enhance wellness, reduce work-related stress and strengthen community-led policing.

Held under the theme, "Championing Wellness, Unity and Professional Excellence Through Sports," the opening match saw the Police Corporate Team defeat Naguru Community 2-1 at Kira Road Police Arena, a home of Police FC #CommunityPolicing

Overall, the electoral process was conducted peacefully across most polling stations nationwide. However, a few areas experienced isolated incidents of violence and electoral-related disturbances, which were promptly responded to by the security agencies.

The Uganda Police Force, through the Directorate of Forensic Services, yesterday conducted a training for journalists on responsible crime reporting, with support from @UNODCEastAfrica and @JLOSUganda.

The training, facilitated in partnership with the @ODPPUGANDA and the @JudiciaryUG, equipped media practitioners with the legal, ethical, and professional principles that guide crime and justice reporting, underscoring the media’s vital role in promoting fairness, accuracy, and the administration of justice.

Participants benefited from insightful presentations by Hon. Justice Lawrence Tweyanze and Ms Rachel Odoi-Musoke, Senior Technical Advisor to the Governance and Security Programme, who shared the judicial perspective on responsible media reporting and its impact on the administration of justice.
