๐๐Yesterday, Jonathan Chui successfully defended his PhD degree. Congrats, Dr. Chui; you did an excellent job, and we are very proud of you. ๐๐๐๐ @JChui_@scil_leuven@DevReg_KULeuven Thanks to all the Jurys and Chair!
On Wednesday February 21 at 5 pm, Jonathan Chui will defend his PhD with title:
"Advancing hiPSC-Derived Differentiation: Exploring Hyperosmolarity and Transcription Factor Reprogramming".
The defense will take place in the aula of ON5. Aย livestream will be available.
๐Congrats @BekaertBieke for your excellent PhD defense of yesterday๐. It was a pleasure to be part of your external jury members together with @Atilgan__Yilmaz . Also congrats to your promoters @bheindry, @BoelAnnekatrien, and Prof B.Menten.
๐ค๐คOur second edition of Lluis lab happy hour with games, Karaoke and Belgian Fries was again a success!! Thanks to all the members of the lab for organizing and all the SCIL for participating! ๐๐๐ฅณ๐ฅณ @scil_leuven
๐ขOur article about how osmolar conditions in cell media might improve human pluripotent cells differentiation and induce cell cycle arrest is finally out ๐ in Advanced Science. Excellent job @T_Izuel and @JChui_. Thanks to all the co-authors.

Wondering how to generate in vitro stem models for the human hypoblast or mouse primitive endodermโฆthe lineage never fully recapitulated in #Blastoids - see this insightful discussion by @MartaPrera of naive extra embryonic endoderm #nEnd https://t.co/j99wKyuIZg
In part 2 of Session 2, Prof. Lluis Vinas of @lab_lluis outlined that mouse PE and epiblast have different needs for Wnt, with Wnt inhibition inducing PE formation. Tcf7l1 deletion results in wnt activation and impairs PE formation. Wnt is also differently regulated in humans.
