Following the recent training of surrogate inspectors, 48 experts from 18 countries, who will play various roles other than inspection team members, were in Namibia preparing for #CTBTO's largest-ever IFE. CTBT on-site inspections (OSI) become reality only once the Treaty enters into force, but the international experts behind them have been training and refining their OSI capabilities. With the Integrated Field Exercise (IFE26) taking place in October 2026 to check how OSI components work together, the surrogate inspectors are coming together to refresh their inspection logic and techniques.

The Treaty of Tlatelolco has demonstrated how regional commitments can advance non-proliferation and disarmament. Nuclear-Weapon-Free-Zone (NWFZ) treaties, such as this one, help promote and sustain the momentum needed for the #CTBT to enter into force.
