Preparations for the Integrated Field Exercise 2026 (IFE26) continue at full pace! Following the recent training of surrogate inspectors, 48 experts from 18 countries, who will play various roles other than inspection team members, were in Namibia preparing for #CTBTO's largest-ever IFE. Working across the exercise's supporting teams, each participant has a specific role to play, from managing and coordinating the exercise to supporting scenario, evaluating performance and capturing lessons learned. https://t.co/F0LAjUqoIk
The U.S. is mobilizing the collective power of America’s nonprofit and private sectors to support earthquake relief in Venezuela. @StateDept is partnering with leading NGOs, @GEMmissions, @Walmart, and other American companies to deliver life‑saving assistance and accelerate recovery - bringing the full strength of the U.S. private sector to bear.
NATO's future effectiveness will depend not only on military strength but also on its ability to preserve political unity among allies whose threat perceptions, regional priorities, and domestic politics are increasingly divergent, writes @TacanILDEM. https://t.co/p3F1K3SA4e
Back in Côte d’Ivoire for two important milestones: to celebrate the signing of the Facility Agreement and the #CTBT’s 30th anniversary. A pleasure to meet Minister of Foreign Affairs @NialeKaba_Off and Minister of @Educationci Adama Diawara. 🇨🇮 continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to the Treaty, multilateral cooperation and international peace and security.
Deeply saddened by the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela today. My thoughts and prayers are with those people and communities affected in this difficult time.
An honour to welcome Prime Minister of Barbados @miaamormottley to Vienna. Grateful for the strong support of Latin America and the Caribbean for the #CTBT, including the region’s achievement of universalisation and its important contributions to our International Monitoring System. Together, we continue to advance global peace and security.
Always a pleasure to meet with UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs @INakamitsu. Our conversation reaffirmed the values and priorities we share: a strong commitment to multilateralism, to the #CTBT, and to international peace and security.
A pleasure to meet with Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) Secretary General Rungrueng Kitphati this Tuesday, and congratulate him on his recent appointment. Thailand and @atomsnet are valued partners of @CTBTO. As host to two Intl. Monitoring System stations, 🇹🇭 is a key part of our verification system in the region. I look forward to our continued cooperation.
On this #WorldOceansDay, let’s reflect on our joint effort to establish #CTBT’s one-of-a-kind International Monitoring System, which scans the globe for nuclear weapon test explosions and has the added benefit of helping to preserve our marine environments. Oceans connect communities; together we must continue to protect them.
It’s truly encouraging to see the continued progress in advancing women’s representation, both within the @CTBTO and beyond. Here’s to sustaining this momentum.

From high-level diplomacy to student dialogue, @DrRobFloyd wrapped up a visit to Latvia 🇱🇻, a valued #CTBT partner. Highlights included a meeting with Deputy State Secretary Olga Bogdanova, accompanied by Amb. Raimonds Oškalns of @LVMissionVienna, and a tour of the National Data Centre. The Executive Secretary also exchanged with the #nextgen at @RSUinfo & experts at @LIIA_LV, all important advocates for a 🌍 free from nuclear test explosions.
Wonderful to host #CTBTO Permanent Representatives at the @CTBTO TeST Centre in Seibersdorf this morning. On the initiative of Amb. Raimonds Oškalns, Chair of the Preparatory Commission, a timely moment to visit this impressive multipurpose facility that contributes to the verification system and the upcoming Integrated Field Exercise in Namibia #IFE26.
CTBT on-site inspections (OSI) become reality only once the Treaty enters into force, but the international experts behind them have been training and refining their OSI capabilities. With the Integrated Field Exercise (IFE26) taking place in October 2026 to check how OSI components work together, the surrogate inspectors are coming together to refresh their inspection logic and techniques.
The Treaty of Tlatelolco has demonstrated how regional commitments can advance non-proliferation and disarmament. Nuclear-Weapon-Free-Zone (NWFZ) treaties, such as this one, help promote and sustain the momentum needed for the #CTBT to enter into force.
🔬 It’s happening now at the Vienna International Centre. The Long Night of Research is in full swing and the crowd is buzzing at the #CTBTO stand. Come by, see what we do, and be part of our mission to end nuclear test explosions.
🗞️ Look out for our web story & 📸 Flickr album next week! #LNF26
🗣️What do #multilingualism, #multilateralism and poetry have in common? Quite a lot, according to @DrRobFloyd at the Spanish Language Day at the United Nations event this Thursday. From choosing the right words to connecting across cultures, he reflected on how language, a “gateway to the soul”, underpins effective multilateral work, not unlike poetry.
Pleased to meet with Ambassador Jeff Bartos (@AmbUNReform) for a constructive discussion on how the #CTBTO is making a valuable contribution to global peace and security. I very much appreciate the support of the US Government as we continue to build stable, resilient, and effective international institutions.
