And these guys come out preaching us what should be done. Shows themselves as socially responsible in most of their speeches & particularly in their movies. Hypocrites of the highest order!!

Ford is planning a major electric vehicle push at its Maraimalai Nagar plant near Chennai. The idea is to turn the existing factory into an integrated EV manufacturing hub for affordable electric vehicles aimed at the Asia Pacific region.
The project would be a brownfield expansion of the plant Ford already has. Along with vehicle assembly it could include batteries cells electric motors and other critical EV parts so more of the value chain stays in one place.
Production is expected to serve mainly export markets. That would give Ford a lower cost base in India to build electric vehicles for the wider region.
Last year Ford announced a ₹3250 crore revival of the same site for next generation powertrains with a planned capacity of about 2.35 lakh units a year.
An integrated EV and battery operation would be a much larger step. Industry estimates put such a programme in the ₹15000 to ₹20000 crore range though Ford has not given a figure.
Tamil Nadu is already the countrys EV leader. The state makes more than half of Indias electric two wheelers and around 40 percent of total EV output.
Hyundai has called it its flagship EV hub for India. VinFast is expanding in Tuticorin. TVS, Ather, Ola and others run two wheeler plants. Ashok Leyland is building a battery pack facility near Chennai.
A Ford scale plant would add depth not just assembly. Cells packs and motors would pull more suppliers into the cluster. Ports near Chennai and Ennore help exports. The state already has engineering talent and a large Ford capability centre ( employing more than 12,000 people) in the city.
If this plan is realised it would strengthen Tamil Nadus EV lead by adding a global OEM focused on affordable electric vehicles for Asia Pacific.
Chennai would move further from being only Indias EV factory floor toward being a regional base for cost competitive electric mobility.

Everyone talking about a future mega shipyard in Thoothukudi forgets one thing: Tamil Nadu already built a mega yard over a decade ago.
When L&T was scouting locations, the state pushed hard for Thoothukudi. L&T ultimately chose Kattupalli, setting up world-class modular infrastructure, a massive shiplift, and heavy fabrication bays on the Coromandel coast.
The sheer potential of this yard is unmatched in the private sector. When the multi-billion dollar Project-75I conventional submarine tender came up, L&T pitched Kattupalli as the strategic private contender. Had that mega contract landed here instead of going the usual route to Mazagon Dock in Mumbai, Kattupalli would be buzzing as India’s premier submarine-building capital right now.
Instead, the yard has largely focused on interceptors, auxiliary vessels, refits, and US Navy voyage repairs.
That narrative is finally shifting. In partnership with HSL, Kattupalli is now executing construction on the Indian Navy’s massive 45,000-tonne Fleet Support Ships (FSS)—alongside landing craft and multi-purpose platforms. These replenishment giants will be the largest naval ships ever built in Tamil Nadu, proof of the scale this yard was engineered to handle from day one. (We’ve broken down the engineering and scale of this project in detail on our channel!)
The modular assembly lines, waterfront access, and expansion headroom are already sitting right there. The Indian Navy desperately needs to distribute strategic shipbuilding risks beyond legacy public sector yards. Giving Kattupalli lead surface combatant and strategic build lines isn’t just good for Tamil Nadu’s defence corridor—it’s vital for national maritime resilience.

Wonderful Wonderful Thread from @Kyunghoon_Kim_ on Korea-India Shipbuilding cooperation...🙏 He says
🔹Tamil Nadu’s achievements are impressive & states competing for major foreign investment, whether from HD Hyundai or anyone else, still have considerable catching up to do
🔹His team evaluated many states & recommend just one - Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
🔹TN Govt from back in 2025 move at an impressive pace to secure this deal!
As long as this thread is, Tamil Nadu’s achievements are impressive. States competing for major foreign investment, whether from HD Hyundai or anyone else, still have considerable catching up to do.
That, in my view, is the real picture today. (end)

Sengalipuram is a famous name among those who follow spiritual discourses. The original name of the place was Jayasinga Kulakaalapuram, named after Rajendra Chola’s commander Arayan Rajarajan.
There is an ancient temple here known as the Dundhubeeswarar Temple. The temple was converted into a “katrali”, or stone temple, by a person named Gouthaman Thillaivanamudaiyan. His sculpture can still be seen on the southern wall of the sanctum, along with an inscription that records his contribution.
The inscription states:
“The temple thiruppani was carried out by Saligan Gouthaman Thillaivanamudaiyan Ariyan of Mudikondachola Perumtheru in Gangaikonda Cholapuram.”
This is particularly interesting because it suggests that Gouthaman Thillaivanamudaiyan was probably an official or an important person connected with the Chola administration who lived in the imperial capital of Gangaikonda Cholapuram. He appears to have undertaken the rebuilding of the Dundhubeeswarar temple in stone.
Other inscriptions from the temple also record grants of land and other endowments made by him and his wife. Together, these records give us a fascinating glimpse into how individuals connected with the Chola capital participated personally in the construction, renovation and support of temples in different parts of the empire.
More than a thousand years later, Gouthaman Thillaivanamudaiyan still stands with folded hands beside the temple he helped rebuild, a rare instance where the inscription, the benefactor and his work have all survived together.
