1/9 In the communication addressed to Azerbaijan the UN Special Rapporteur on cultural rights expressed concern on “ongoing pattern of destruction and appropriation of Armenian historically, culturally and religiously significant sites and objects,

The @UN Special Rapporteur on cultural rights is clear in his conclusion: The Aliyev regime has committed ETHNIC CLEANSING in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The communication manifests the to what extent @presidentaz undermines the international law and international legal order.

The findings of the UN SR:

- expresses concern towards the destruction and appropriation of #Armenian historically, culturally and religiously significant sites and objects,
- expresses concern towards reinterpretation of the history of #NagornoKarabakh to erase the traces of the presence of Armenians and of discriminatory narrative against and harassment of Armenians in the region, in flagrant violation of international #culturalrights and relevant @CIJ_ICJ Orders,
- expresses concern towards combined attacks to people, monuments and symbols, the falsification of the historical narrative and erasure of place names and the negative discourses about Armenians, which may amount to cultural cleansing,
- Sheds light on the acts of vandalism and destruction affecting religious and cultural sites, perpetrated by Azerbaijan, the examples involve the desacralization of many Armenian churches, conversion of Kanach Zham Church into a restaurant, destruction of cemeteries and cross-stones, removal of historical traces of Armenian writings and scriptures from the walls of Armenian churches and monasteries and many more,

Condemns the so-called “Albanization” narrative of Armenian monuments and history, referring to it as a falsification of history, a revisionism theory applied to the region

concludes with the following: “the crisis would therefore be a direct manifestation of discriminatory approach of #Azerbaijan towards #Armenians. Once the region is cleansed of ethnic Armenians, it is alleged that Azerbaijan has planned to further remove all physical indications of the presence of Armenians.
