School support staff are crucial to our mission to drive high and rising standards in schools, that's why we're reinstating the SSSNB.
So pleased to visit Hawley Primary School to support @unisontheunion Stars in our Schools day, celebrating brilliant school support staff 👏🌟
As part of UNISON's #starsinourschools celebrations @CMcKinnellMP, Minister of State for School Standards, visited Hawley Primary School in Camden to meet the fantastic support staff that keep our schools running everyday.

@SENDMattersUK It’s very welcome. Won’t solve all the problems but we have to be positive about the fact it will make a difference. Broken councils need more support - should go there first.
@Headteacherchat Our LA trained 2 staff members to be ELSAs - they are a godsend. We bought into @CDPS_Southwark Wellbeing Curriculum for whole class engagement and have seen brilliant discussions and outcomes. We have a great MHST for 1:1 support too - but know we are lucky.
@poppygibsonuk What an absolutely amazing opportunity! Is this voluntary? I’d love to visit a school at some point in the holidays, even better if I could go and teach there for a few weeks!
I cannot be the only person who gets frustrated that the contestants can’t decide on one spelling for peoples names. How hard can it be to learn the correct spelling of your fellow contestants names 😂😂
@engl_teach22 On top of that, we’ve also done lots of work with individuals on understanding winning and losing, recognising and managing emotions. Social stories and 1:1 sessions building resilience and regulation.
@engl_teach22 Our PE coach does lots of work on drills and has made tweaks to games so that people don’t go ‘out’ when learning and building skills. They build to short games that are timed, so that ch know they won’t be out for long before starting again.
