@FrankYan2 I was not really convinced by the film, but I disagree to say it’s “exploitive”. Really love ‘The Battle Of Algier’ though. If we applied Rivette theory to American new cinema, we might need to also remove ‘Apocalypse Now’ from film history no?
@FrankYan2@mcmiag Rivette is not god! His critic of Kapo is meaningful and the responsability of a director making a film about history shouldn’t be overlooked. But I believe there’s a middle ground and filmmakers should be able to take some risk. What would he think about The Voice Of Hind Rajab?

#BiennaleCinema2025#Venezia82#XinZhilei: “I’m 39 this year, and honestly, winning this Coppa Volpi was completely unexpected – I never thought about it while filming. I’ve never, ever made a film with the aim of winning an award or anything like that. So this really came as a surprise, and it’s such a joy. As for what comes next, I haven’t quite figured that out yet. Right now, I still feel a bit dazed. I’ve only just received this award – maybe I’m just a bit too happy, that’s all.”
@ChristerEm@laclau_mat I was totally into it. Complex adult drama with great script and stellar performances. Classic cinema. Not everything has to be experimental.

Un film di sacrificio e redenzione, una storia che parla di valori.

#Venezia82 The Sun Rises on Us All by Cai Shangjun destroyed me. I'll keep thinking about it for a long time, especially about the ending. Top 3 of the festival to me. Brilliant script, both lead actors were great but Xin Zhilei is unforgettable.
