The scale and intensity of Israel's four-day incursion in Jenin is very alarming. Israeli forces keep obstructing access to health facilities blocking and even targeting ambulances, delaying people’s access to care.
@joeywags83@HoustonChron Boycott them how, exactly? They are the public utility provider. Even if you get your electricity plan from a different company, Centerpoint is still the one operating the infrastructure and selling the electricity to the other entities.
@kuhl_blitz@HoustonChron Also, there was massive wind damage and widespread power outages where Harvey made landfall (Rockport, Port Aransas, Corpus), but that area doesn’t have anywhere near the population size/density of Houston. Harvey is just not a good point of comparison for this storm.
@kuhl_blitz@HoustonChron Harvey made landfall about 150 miles further south than Beryl, then went back out into the Gulf. By the time it swung up toward Houston, it was a much weaker, wetter, and slower-moving tropical storm, which led to the devastating flooding.

in 2019, this kind of rhetoric demonizing immigrants inspired a white supremacist to drive 10 hours from a Dallas suburb to the border city of El Paso to carry out the deadliest attack on Latinos in recent US history
Shame on @Hou_Landing leadership for firing Alex, one of the best reporters in Texas. A disservice to Houston readers and the rest of the newsroom, which has punched above its weight since launching.
Those defending ambiguous medical exceptions in abortion bans regularly suggest that the problem is not the ambiguities, but doctors narrowly construing them.
And yet, here’s Texas AG Ken Paxton threatening doctors with civil and criminal liability for FOLLOWING A COURT ORDER.
